Reviews for Rampage Products 139935 TrailView Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door
Great soft top and the sunrider flip-top is an amazing feature. The whole kit is poke yoked except for a few brackets. It feels sturdy and should last for years. Replacement windows are available if needed in a few years.
Very happy with the top. I like the fold-back and panel stowage features. Top isn't as easy to reinstall as I'd have hoped, but I really can't complain - the interior stays dry and the top stays tight.
I'd replace any top with this one every day of the week.
An acceptable top just a few cons:
1) windows tend to slip out of the door so it is necessary to have a mallet on board to tap beck into place regularly.
2) if the top is open it will lift up easily at low speeds. You need to clamp the roof down. to avoid this.
3) If the warranty is up and you need a replacement part, even as easy as a window with a broken zipper, don't expect to receive any help locating or ordering one. Rampage CS will send you to a dealer and the dealer will say they cant place special orders. Plan on needing to purchase a new top.
This is my second Rampage roof (had one for my TJ). The good: I love it. It looks great, it functions well (the sunrider) and truly is a one-hand operation roof. It's relatively thin, but does the job and the tinted windows help for those time when the roof HAS to be up. Installation was relatively painless and fairly intuitive. Having the window storage within the roof is genius and you cannot even tell from the exterior. The bad: It's too tight. I understand why they want it to be very tight, but this company is located in Georgia, where the climate is much more temperate, even in cold months. I am in New England. If it's below 70-degrees, it is not realistic to operate the roof -- it just won't work. Another 1/2-inch of material would help immensely. But then it will flap, you say. It's a soft top -- it flaps. Give me a little material that makes it operable. The right side window does not stay seated. It seats fine, but as it cools, the edge twists out of place and literally pops the top half of the window out of the seating slot on (wear the passenger's side door is). I have contacted Rampage and they suggested using a rubber mallet to put the window in place. I re-explained that initial seating is not the issue, and that it pulls out due to the roof fitment being too tight. They have not responded despite two additional follow-up e-mails. In short, their customer service leaves much to be desired. Additionally, when I contacted them about the issue, I also asked about a replacement clip where the rear window fastens, as one broke when I was uninstalling the roof for the winter (I run a hardtop in the winter), and was told, "we'll take care of you." I've heard nothing more about that, either. Again, customer service, not real impressed. I like the fit and finish of this roof better than the Bestop roof that I bought, though the BT is definitely made from a higher quality material. BT also doesn't offer in-roof storage for the windows (a HUGE advantage of the Rampage and my primary reason for choosing it). This could easily be a 4-5 star review if they used better materials and provided even moderate customer service, but sadly, that is not the era in which we live.
IF YOU HAVE A 2DR JK... YOU WILL HAVE PUDDLING!!
TL;DR: If you live in a temperate place with little rain, I would recommend this top. It has great qualities and features that I like. However, if you get rain/snow, you will have major puddling and will be dealing with that for the life of the top. That is why I had to give it 2/5.. this top will only last 2-3 years before the sag from the weight of the precipitation gets to be too much instead of the 5 years I hoped to get out of it.
I bought this top to replace my OEM top after 5 years. I liked the idea of the easy sun-rider feature and the fact it was nearly frame-less. The top was very tight and took some effort in installing. The directions were helpful however I found a video on Rampage Product's YouTube channel that could help if you get stuck during the process. The install took about 2 hours mainly because I had to let the fabric sit out in the sun so it would be pliable enough to stretch. I like the ease of use with the top. I like having full view behind me when everything is off the sides and back. I love that you can store the sides and back on the top and take with you for emergency install due to weather. With it still being fairly new, it isn't very simple to reinstall due to the tightness of the fabric. But the process if fairly simple after you get used to it.
After having the full top on for about a week, we had a rain storm. I came out the next morning and there was major puddling in the center of the vehicle. I've ran into this with "summer tops" but I was still a bit aggravated. After reviewing the instructions again, I thought perhaps I didn't get the two "anti-puddling poles" that were listed in the inventory, so I emailed the company.
The response time of the company is VERY slow but after proving that I had purchased the top from a 3rd party, the company informed me that there are not any anti-puddling poles for the 2dr. They told me there is one built into the top that prevents puddling. As I told David Almazan, the representative that I was emailing back and forth with, there most certainly is puddling.
I will end up fabricating something to put in the top while I am not driving to keep it from puddling and had this been a "summer top" like a bikini top, I wouldn't be as upset. But the amount of money that was spent and the fact this is supposed to be my permanent top, including during the winter, is very upsetting. At this point, I will never buy another "Rampage Products" product again.
I bought this top and when I received it, it was damaged. The left back window zipper is missing the piece that holds the zipper teeth together therefore it does not stay zipped especially when I have to zip up the right side. I sent pictures and detailed info to Quadratec and have yet to receive a new back window. Sent on June 20th order #Q1516596. It's quite frustrating and costly to receive a damaged top. I am giving it 1 star because its a great top on a sunny day when I don't need the back window on. I'm also saddened by Quadratec's customer service department for not taking this matter more seriously.
