Reviews for Crown Automotive LSK4 Front & Rear Leaf Spring Service Kit for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ

The only hardware that doesn’t come in kit are the “Grade 8” 9/16 x 4-1/2 bolts for mounting Leaf Springs to frame mounts. Everything else is included and went together great. A hydraulic press is recommended for pressing in bushing into Leaf Springs. Use appropriate driver tool on the outer diameter of bushing. Do not just throw in a bench vise and apply force to inner metal sleeve, you will damage it. Great budget kit and easy enough to install.
The perfect replacement kit for my 1993 Jeep YJ. Kit includes everything needed for complete replacement of leaf springs and shackles with the exception of main eye bolts. In addition, a hydraulic press or strong vice is needed to drive in the main bushings on the leaf springs. Previous reviews stating the U-Bolts to be of inferior quality/improper size are likely outdated, as the size/quality of the supplied bolts was the correct size and standard. Leaf springs are approximately stock height, but the larger shackles provide a slight lift. Shackles are also greasable, which makes this kit a great deal in comparison to other and more expensive options.
This is not a job for amateurs. Better have a torch handy. Made my 95 YJ ride like a new one. Lifted it enough to go to 31" tires. Great product.
Ended up with about 3.5 in of lift when all said and done. But my leafs were completely shot. Install was pretty straight forward.
Installed on my 95 YJ. No big problems encountered, except removing u bracket nuts. Some torch heat took care of that. Jeep rides better and has less torque steer. The old springs were bent, sagging, and had a broken leaf. The new u brackets torqued without stripping. All parts were accounted for. This replacement work is probably not for a beginner, but it isn't all that difficult with proper tools, patience, and safety stands.
All the bolts are greasable, except the four inner bolts that mount to the frame. You have to reuse those bolts.
must have corrected the problem with U bolts no problems with my YJ
Everything in the kit worked perfectly. The u-bolts do appear to be a little cheaper on the material, they fit perfectly. I torqued them to 90 ft-lbs without issue. The spring eyes were perfectly round and was able to press the bushings in with ease using a c-clamp. I did not want a lift so I used that OEM spring shackles instead of the extended ones. No issues. I don't understand why the 9/16 bolt that attaches the spring to the frame is not included (which is why they did not get 5 stars). The complete job took me a full day. I had issues removing the rear springs. The frame bolt was put in backwards so I had to drop the fuel tank to get them out.
Everything fit well and the ride is much improved. My only complaint is that the bushings that attach to the frame ends of the leaf springs did not fit with ease because the wrap is not perfectly circular like the bushing. After several attempts with both rubber and dead blow mallets, I had to take them to Napa to be pressed in with a hydraulic press for an additional cost. It would be better if they came pre-installed in the leaf springs to avoid this issue.
