Reviews for Kentrol 70071 Polyurethane Hood Catch Strap Set for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Hopefully the work better than the ones I have
Stopped the hood flutter. Stiff as hell but effective!
Great product Quadratec is great super fast shipping... thanks guys
While it seems like an easy repair/replace, removing the pins holding the strap in the assembly is the challenge. Thats why the dealership offered to do it for $200. After researching forums and YouTube...
I grabbed each end with a pair of vice grips/pliers and rotated in opposite directions. Others (in forums and YouTube) said the pins just snapped off. Mine initially backed out and then I held one end with pliers and backed the screw out with a screw driver.
It took 5 minutes to swap and replace the broken strap. And I had to really lean into the new latch to snap it down, so no more flutter, for sure.
Bought a pair 6 years ago. Stopped the hood flutter completely. On the way home from Moab I noticed one had cracked but was still holding the hood down. The other had started to crack. They held all the way home. Only thing I did was decrease my speed. I might look into better latches at some point. But for now I've ordered two new sets. One to replace the old ones and one set to keep in the jeep as back up. I think I got my money's worth for 6 years life.
Stops the hood flutter, easy install.
Nice tight fit. Durable. I have had them on for alittle of a year now and they are still just like day one of install.
It fits well and rigidly. Too soon to tell how durable it is. I’m sure here (the Middle East) is a good place to test it’s durability especially during the scorching hot summers.
Flutter... what flutter! My hood is solid as a rock now, i also got some hood to fender bumpers since my JK had none. Install tip- i saw a guy on youtube grab the heads of the pins on each side and twist in opposite directions to break instead of cutting out the originals - worked well and made it super quick to swap everything out.
Worked perfectly!
