Reviews for Quadratec Deluxe Heavy Duty Hardtop Storage Cart for 76-06 Jeep CJ-7, Wrangler YJ & TJ
Works for it's intended purpose. Very low quality materials
Well, the rack as designed is very well built and easy to assemble. But the design itself has 2 glaring issues: 1) none of the caster wheels lock, making it extremely difficult to position the roof on the rack without it moving out of position...while you're holding the roof. Subsequently you have to deal with it moving around the garage on its own once it's in place if your floor is graded for drainage. 2) the "Hardtop Rear Liftgate Retainer" is listed as an additional OPTION, when clearly it is a necessary accessory to keep the rear window/tailgate from hitting the ground. Quadratec should either include it as part of the kit, or simply add a 4th piece of wood going across to solve the problem. Easy solutions for Quadratec that would yield as easy 5 stars.
Got a kick out of assembly of this item. Looks nice, carpeted surfaces are a bonus and hopefully holds the roof. But I really knew it was amateur hour when the wood screws tumbled out of the box with slotted heads. Come on guys. Flat heads are so 1970.
Assembly notes - first be prepared to drill out some holes, they don't actually line up with each other. Second the casters in my box were metric, and the bolts SAE. So the 1/4" bolts don't quite fit through the 6mm holes in the caster plate. A ball peen hammer inelegantly solved that issue. Finally the holes in the back support were too big for the wood screws provided, no bite. Swapped with larger (phillps head, I might add) screws from the stash, assembly complete.
Easy to assemble, functions as expected, but within 9 months of purchase the Left Leg and Right Leg warped, making it unstable and incredibly difficult to wheel around, effectively rendering it useless. The legs appear to be made of an MDF-like product which couldn't stand up to the weight of the top over the long term. It was never exposed to rain or direct moisture--just the Texas humidity--nor to any weight beyond the top itself. It may work better in a drier climate or if you don't plan to wheel it around much, but for me, I'm disappointed that a $200+ item couldn't last.
I purchased the "Quadratec Deluxe Heavy Duty Hardtop Storage Cart for 76-06 Jeep CJ-7, Wrangler YJ & TJ" with the goal to finally move my hard top, that has been sitting outside for 4 years, into my garage. I have had the cart for not even 1 month and I found that it has since warped and is almost at a near-breaking point. This past weekend I noticed the hard top leaning against the Jeep and upon further inspection, the wood pieces that the cart is made of have warped / bent and almost completely snapped under normal storage circumstances. I have been using Quadratec for years now and this is my first substantial complaint. I am not happy with this purchase, especially for the price it was. I'd give it a 0/5 if I could.
lowest value Jeep part ever. Would give 5 stars if it cost $100. It’s a box of MDF planks covered in carpet and casters. 100% buyer assembly, it works fine but doesn’t instill confidence. Again, at $250 it’s a hard bargain for what it is to be honest.
