Reviews for Crown Automotive Front Steel Fender for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ
Fender had a little rust spot on it must have been in storeage a while but the fit was good but looks better than the old fender that was on the jeep
Initial fit to body is good, all bolt holes line up well and alignment is good. There was a palm-sized dent where support for hood latch mount was spot welded underneath from warping - this had to be massaged with a hammer and dolly and a skim coat of filler applied to get it acceptable. Many of the spot welds also had to be addressed as they were visible from the top. Mine also had a few small dents, etc. The 4 forward mounting holes for the fender flares are located in the wrong place and had to be re-drilled to allow the factory flare to mount. Also, the two large holes that accept the flare mounting tabs are located about 1/4" too low and flare will sit too low on the fender. You'll need to cut the top half of these plastic tabs off, as well as cut the lower flare lip off the inside of the flare to allow the flare to mount where it should. The icing on the cake is hood latch mounting holes. The indentation and holes for the hood latch are located about 3/8" too far back to allow the hood latch to line up with the anchor on the hood. There is only slight adjustment capabilities here, so It cannot be adjusted enough to line up. The angle is also off slightly. The contour of the fender side is also off where it bends down at the front near the parking light, it bulges out slightly and wont allow the flare to mount flush. This was not able to be massaged flat due to the thickness of the metal at this point of the bend. The only thing I didn't check before final paint and finish was the hood mounting latch location! So now I'm left with a fender I paid $200 for, spent HOURS of additional time in body work and prep, and the hood latch doesn't line up! You know that used, rust-free Mopar fender you were thinking of buying on Ebay for $350? BUY IT! Next time I will!
Fits fine but pretty flimsy compared to the OEM fender. Also shipped in a box 4x larger than needed to be. Not well packaged and got bent up during shipping. Not a great purchase unfortunately.
