Reviews for Key Parts 0480-011 Steel Windshield Frame for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ
Perfect replacement
It is seen that it is in very good condition. I am fascinated I recommend it to anyone who wants to buy it.
Should have got earlier, would have saved trying to reuse frame.
looks great fits good, easy install with new bolts, tight fit with new gasket!
works ok.
It's about like every other sheet metal part made over seas. Not bad, but not OEM. Didn't have any problems installing.
Arrived quickly. Packing was done quite well with no flaws in the black primer coat or damage to the frame. Give it 5 stars for looks, but upon inspection, I noted 2 QC errors. One window channel hole was not drilled and tapped; one windshield hinge nut was off-center and the edge just under overlapping sheet metal making a round file pass necessary so as to not strip the bolt later. Otherwise, the frame is straight, with neatly punched or threaded holes and looks like powder coating rather than blown-on primer. Because it's a two piece welded unit and not leakproof, you might want to use a rust inhibitor on the inside prior to painting.
Everything bolted to it like factory.
Decent part, but Mopar officially licensed product apparently doesn't mean anything beyond that FCA gets a part of the purchase amount! A lot of tweaks needed for install. Wish I had realized BEFORE mounting that punch for wiper motor hole had about a 1/4" lip where original had 1/16 if that. Had to remove material before I could install wiper motor!
Frame arrived after about 2 business days and in good condition upon initial inspection.
After starting the install process i noticed a few oddities with the frame.
the first is if you have a soft top you have to drill the holes for you soft top slip, not a huge deal but still a little daunting if you are not used to drilling holes yourself.
The star nut receiving holes on the passenger side should have been tack welded to keep if from free spinning the bolt when installing instead if just spun and could never get tight. i will have to get it as tight as i can and either weld it together but either way if i ever replace the frame again i will have to replace the hinges as well.
Lastly is the passenger side sun visor holes completely do not match up, i will have to fabricate something to allow them to fit or just do without it entirely.
Over all i would recommend this purchase just be aware you will have some work to do.
