Reviews for Teraflex 4354420 Rear Disc Brake Kit for 91-06 Jeep Cherokee XJ, Grand Cherokee ZJ, Wrangler YJ & TJ
Absolutely love this kit, my XJ stops so much better now and I don’t have to rebuild my drum brakes all the time anymore!! It is a bit pricey but I couldn’t be happier with the quality and ease of installation!! It’s very simple, and straightforward. I am a backyard mechanic who’s pretty handy, and I build a lot of custom stuff and it only took me about 3 hours to remove the old crap and install the new. The instructions were good and made install a breeze. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get rid of their old tired drum brakes some nice new discs, the stopping power is much better and quicker.
Great product, bolts on and great performance, my only warning is ensure your wheel studs are long enough, for a D35, I had to put longer wheels studs in the rear on my TJ. The rotor is thicker than the stock drums. This was the case for my stock and aftermarket wheels.
This kit is not complete. You need to purchase new bearings and emergency brake cables at an extra $200. It isn't what I expected. I am very disappointed. But for the shipping cost, I would have returned it.
This is more universal kit than specific to one axle on one vehicle and it shows in a few areas.
Purchased what thought was the most complete kit which also means more $$.
#1 I have factory 15" aluminum wheels. To be fair the ad here says "may not fit some". What it should say is factory 15" wheels then plan on grinding the outside top surface of those calipers down at least a couple mm.
#2 CHINA? Not a single part had a country of origin stamp or sticker on it. Fact the calipers are just bubble wrapped, everything is white boxed..
#3 hardware: caliper bolts are slightly bent ALLEN heads!! What evil genius thought this one out? No room to put an Allen socket so have fun!
#4 rotors:. So the recommended napa lug studs in the instructions which are 100% needed on the 8.25 axle. The rotors won't clear the protruding shoulders of the new lugs!! So break out a step bit and modify those new rotors..
#5 fitment:. Remember this Allen caliper bolts? Well that caliper won't fit the caliper mount cleanly. It's just a little off making cross threading and swearing your new normal language..
I'd stick with my drums than do this again.
