Reviews for EATON 912A585 Trutrac Limited Slip Differential for 27 Spline Dana 30 Axle with 3.73 and Numerically Higher Gear Ratio
Just what I was looking for on my TJ
Numerous recommendations online for my application.
I've ran my Trutrac in rain, snow, mud, rocks and the mall parking lot. I'm pleased with it's performance. I would recommend installing one to anyone.
After doing a lot of research into various differentials for better traction off roading I went with the Detroit TruTracs front and rear for my ‘11 Sahara. They work seamlessly on road, and so far the little bit of off road snow driving proves that they work. I don’t do hard core rock crawling, so these seemed to be the best way to go. As time goes by and I have more off road opportunities, I will be able to get a better picture of how much these LSD’s help or not. Be aware, I mated these to Yukon 4.11 gears for D-30 front and D-44 rear. The rear TruTrac ring gear holes and the Yukon ring gear holes did not mate so I had to send them out to a machine shop to get them to fit. Eaton is aware of the issue and working on a manufacturing fix. Otherwise, I am very happy with the upgrade.
Best upgrade I have bought yet! Love these trutracs. Kept up with my brothers Jeep Rubicon no problem and works even better on the tight corners.
Smooth operation on and off road- can't tell it's there on road- great traction off road
It works well, locks the front enough and gets the power to the tire you need. However, it seems no one mentions that it forces the front driveshaft to spin all the time. YJs are not really meant for this. Vibrations and noises you never had will appear unless everything is in new condition. I'd rather not have my front shaft and transfer case spinning 100% of the time. Description says it operates the same as an open diff until traction loss. This is simply not true. I would have bought a selectable locker had I known this would force the driveshaft to spin constantly.
