Reviews for B&M Racing 45048 B&M Billet Sport Shifter for 99-04 Jeep Wrangler TJ with NV3550 5 Speed Manual Transmission
I own a 2K TJ, with 4.0L engine, have done several bolt on upgrades, and this short throw shifter is a dream. I wish I did it years ago - what a difference. My wife calls it my ‘Grande upgrade’, since she can now fit her coffee in the cup holder without the stock shifter smacking into it in 2nd gear. I could not be more pleased.
One of my favorite mods to the 2000 TJ. Right alongside the seat risers! Shifts are precise and the shorter throw makes for a much more enjoyable drive. Took a few days to build the muscle memory for positioning and now it's all pure enjoyment. Construction is beefy and solid. Installation is one out of five bananas! Zero negatives.
working great
Positive and tight shifts... Definitely one of the best additions to my 2001 Sahara.. I do not have any issues with the shifter distance from the dash and the shifts are like butter now.. Highly recommend this product.. Easy installation.. just make sure if you live in a rust belt like me..upstate NY. that you have some new oem bolts to attach the shifter to the top of transmission. I stripped 2 of them removing the old ones.. I probably could have made it work if it was a daily driver but decided to order new ones to install. The product itself is great..
Installed in 2000 TJ with NV3550. The shifts are amazingly tight and short. It always has a very positive engagement. The shift pattern itself is much shorter, but the pattern has been shifted forward - closer to the dash. With the factory knob that is 1.75" diameter there is just enough room for my fingers to not hit the heater controls. This is because the OE shifter has an offset built in (see pic). Negatives - first and foremost is about the thread diameter and pitch for the knob - they are 10x1.5 NOT 3/8x16! Even the install instructions from B&M are WRONG. I thought the rubber (almost plastic) boot should be better designed and higher quality. This is for an off-road vehicle! I sealed it with some RTV. Besides that I recommend it and wish I had got it sooner.
