Reviews for Prothane 1-1601-BL Transmission Mount in Black for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
2006 Wrangler TJ Rubicon - manual transmission
Solid build quality. I was concerned about vibrations at idle, but I experienced absolutely none of that. In fact, the remainder of my driveline vibrations at speed are completely gone now (after eliminating all other causes of course) as well as fewer vibrations felt in the shift knob.
Prothane, Daystar, Energy, they are all the same build/design. My neighbor has the Energy on his TJ and I put the Prothane on my 98 TJ (4.0, Manual transmission). They are identical when I compared them side by side. Anyway, I’ve driven his Jeep and it drove great so I installed mine. Absolutely no shaking at all. Actually much less with this mount installed. My old OEM mount was worn out after 22 years. My TJ used to shake a little at idle and really shake when I started out in first gear. Now it is absolutely rock solid smooth. I don’t know what is going on with other reviews stating that it causes a lot of shaking at idle. Perhaps getting this solid mount for the tranny accentuates other problems??? I (nor my neighbor) experienced any shaking at all with this transmission mount installed. It actually made it much smoother. It’s a joy to drive again because it’s smooth and doesn’t shake when accelerating from a stop. I’m extremely pleased with how this tightened up and smoothed out my Jeep.
great fit
Definite droning vibration at idle. I replaced my original mount preemptively (130K mileage) while installing a new front driveshaft. Mount is much stronger than the original. I'm not unhappy and won't swap it out, but can't give it 5 stars due to the vibration issue. If your Jeep is your daily driver I'd recommend sticking with an original Mopar mount, otherwise, this is a good upgrade for the trails.
Replaced my broken trans mount with this. It makes all the shakes of the Jeep travel through the body. It's not a bad mount, just realize it's not the same as the original.
The reason for three stars is that a couple of the lower mounting bolt started turning in the mount. this made it difficult to fully tighten it.
