Reviews for Electric-Life JE12-1099 Direct Fit - Power Window Kit for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
Installed this kit on 97 wrangler.Worked like it came from the factory with power windows !fast and quiet and smooth operating.had to reverse the wiring on the connector from motor to switch on right and left side..if wired to same color wire switch worked backwards ..up is down and down is up.Directions show to cut off plastic tab on one side where window attaches to regulator but had to cut both sides .Other than that installation was simple.I had previously installed a universal kit that fit over splines on manual regulator and THAT was a waste of time and money..and much harder to install..wish I had bought this kit in the first place..
I decided NOT to do install myself..Took it to my LOCAL MECHANIC..He did an excellent job of installing--Looks original equipment.. Equipment works very well-- Am very happy with the operation and installation.
HOWEVER------ this installation cannot be done in the suggested time given by Quadratec, unless it is just thrown together with no regard....
I have this product on my jeep and they work great. I can understand that the directions can be a bit difficult, but the overall result is great. Oh, and make sure you keep a copy of the schematic for the wiring for the driver and passanger door switches. If you ever need to pull off the inner door panel, the wires come loose and you may need to refer to the schematic to reinstall.
I have had these for 16 years. Over time the passenger window will go up slowly. It seems to get slower and slower. Maybe it has something to do with not being used as much. In any case, they worked great for years until I have had the slow motor issue.
I guess I will get this system working eventually but it has been a struggle. The instructions have multiple errors and the wiring instructions are wrong, at least they are for a 2006 TJ. The relay coil as received had a dead short. I guess I will be able to source a new one locally. Instructions on how to modify the plastic insert in the window glass identified the wrong one. I modified the one shown and the other one broke when the window went up because that was the one that needed to be modified. I had to modify the winders to prevent interference when the windows are all the way up. At the same time I am doing this I am also installed Electric life power locks. The control module for this was defective (cold solder joints). I re-touched the solder joints and it is working for now but I expect trouble later on. In my opinion the quality of these systems leaves something to be desired.
