Reviews for Rock Hard 4X4 RH6009 Patriot Series Tube Slider Rocker Guards for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
I hate how much drilling/boring-out I had to do on the pinch welds, in order to get these to line up so I could get the frame bolts in. There's no point in painting after you drill, because the threaded studs on these rock-sliders will promptly scrape off all of the paint anyway.
I haven't put on rock sliders before, but I kept wondering how I'm protecting the sheet metal... .by drilling, bolting and sandwiching these rock sliders to the sheet metal itself. The fitment against the body is likely to be a rust nightmare in a few years. Once installed, there's a small gap between the body and the rock-sliders that will likely hold a lot of sand, mud, dirt and grit against the body/paint.
The separate spacers, on the threaded studs, flop around during install and are in the way/mispositioned at every step of trying to get these mounted. I'm not sure why these were needed (they should have just been welded/fixed to the rock sliders to begin with, since they end up in the same position anyway). Actually, there shouldn't be any spacers at all, since rock sliders probably shouldn't bolt to the sheet metal.
I'll very likely throw these away next year and buy ones that properly mount only to the frame. More money down the drain.
