Reviews for Rugged Ridge Perforated Grille Screen for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
A little tricky to mount to the grill, but not bad. Instructions could be better. Looks really nice. With better instructions it could have been mounted a little tighter. But it works.
Easy install. Exactly as the directions suggested. Looks great and keeps stuff out of your inner grill area. It is held on by pressure from 2 braces from the inside that screw into plastic, so I don't know how much I trust that. If I had it to do over again, I would spend the extra and get the actual metal press-in type. It would have saved some install time too.
Product seems of good quality, durable for the price. Instructions were very easy. Took 45 minutes from start to finish to install. Looks Great! I would have give a 5 but it was marked down $5 bucks just since I ordered it. I'm cheap that way.
The screen looks great, but the installation was one of the worst designs I have ever seen.
The metal brackets provided were useless on my 2018 Wrangler JK. There is NO WAY to fit the brackets behind the grill and still mount the grill onto the Jeep, as the bracket will not fit under the inside top portion of the grill where it mounts to the body frame. I improvised by attaching the screen to raised "tabs" that were located on the grill's backside between the seven (7) open slots. I used eight (8) tie-wraps, two (2) each on the ends and in the very middle sections, to attached the screen to the grill. This worked fine, but I will have to monitor the tie-wraps and replace them when they break or become brittle.
Really? Is this the best Chinese engineering has to offer? It looks good, but the mounting provided leaves much to be desired. Perhaps my expectations are too high? I was disappointed as anything I have purchased from Quadratec before has been excellent. This thing needs work. I'm taking it back off today to see what I can do to make it more secure. It's loose in the middle and frankly makes me feel like an idiot having installed it. Go ahead and buy it, but figure you will have to do some creative re-engineering to mount it securely.
Just installed this. Very easy and basic install. About 40 minutes all said and done. Definitely get the braces as SNUG AND TIGHT against the grill insert as possible when drilling the holes or it will rattle. I recommend drilling and securing the bottom of each support BEFORE drilling the top holes to get them as tight as possible without warping the stock grille. Looks good when done and works well in keeping out the debris and bugs down here in FL. Pretty decent for the price.
Not worth the price
Easy install. It works, I gave it 3 starts because it moves around alot. But it is secure.
Only two slats to tighten in place, mine flaps in while driving. Needs more cross bars to keep in firmly in place.
Only buy this if you plan on Jimmy Rigging it to your grill. The provided hardware installs onto the grill, but the grill will not install back onto the front end once the hardware is mounted. The hardware creates a lip on the upper side of the grill that makes it impossible to slide back into place. I ditched the install hardware altogether and drilled holes just big enough for some zip ties, got some black heavy duty ties and use 4 of them. Cruised 80 down the highway with no problems. The insert is nice, but only 2 stars because there's no way this was thought all the way through in the design process.
