Reviews for Mishimoto MMTS-WRA-12 180° Racing Thermostat for 12-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with 3.6L
My '15 Wrangler Sahara had been running hot, even blew the head gasket. After repairing and checking the heads for cracks I put in another factory thermostat (didn't realize then that the factory stat is a 202 degree thermostat), still ran Hot, I'm talking up to 250+ I had already replaced the radiator prior to the blown head gasket and this made no difference. I was running an Angry Bird grill and everybody told me that would cause it to run hot. I'm here to tell you that the Angry Bird grill when completely removed (running w/o a grill at all) may have made a 1-2 degree difference, so don't believe the BS about the Angry Bird grill being the cause of your over-heating. To sum up, I bought this 180 degree thermostat, now my temps are averaging 20-22 degrees cooler. This thing works. I saw someone on another forum say this would cause a P0218 (?) code. I've been running it for about 3-weeks now and no codes. If you are running hot, try this out, it worked for me.
Although I don't have ir use this particular engine or thermostat, another commenter so far off I was forced to comment. As long as the stat correctly opens at 180 F then it's doing its job and you check this yourself, first, before installing it. The commenter obviously didn't do this and even blames the stat maker when it could of been he needed a larger and better radiator.
from having warm heat to excessive heat, I'm sure this thermostat did its job
Just installed today. Not impressed it runs the exact temperature as the factory 203deg. But it's two times the price. Dont waste your money.
