Reviews for Bestop Trektop Pro 2.0 Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 Door
We purchased this top for my Jeep a couple weeks ago and my husband installed it with minimal help from me in about 3 and a half hours. He did watch the installation video on you tube and we had no problems at all. I love love this top. It's the best when it comes to loading anything in the back. I replaced a soft top with this top. I love the color, the fit is amazing. I am just today using the sun rider feature and it was so easy I thought I was doing it wrong. My Jeep looks like a whole new Jeep. I have no complaints.
Exactly what I expected. Looks and functions excellent! I recommend watching the installation video from Bestop.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Top! I had a hard top, and then went to the Trektop NX (bought it used). The NX was so much louder than this top. My wife and I could never talk normally with the NX, but this top..... oh man.... it such a difference! The install took me right at 3.5 hours (that includes the old top removal and about 30 minutes worth of unpacking the new top parts). I should have purchased this top from the beginning. It's still a slight slant at the back, but not as much as the NX which equals more room for storage. The instructions it came with are bad at best, but the BestTop video instructions are easy to follow and I watched them a few times before the top arrived so I was ready to go. MAKE SURE you follow the instructions in the video and DO NOT tighten anything down until the entire "halo" has been assembled. I will try to remember to update my review a few months down the road.
Bought this top in 2017 after Hurricane Harvey ruined my factory OEM top. I feel the need to respond to those saying it leaks badly. I called Bestop after a rain because it leaked. They sent me 2 new front pieces where the leaks happened. That almost fixed it. I added camper shell weather stripping to the corners and that solved it. I'll say their customer service is good. A year ago, randomly, the top flew up while on the highway. It was latched shut and all. I called and they sent me a new top next day air. Even given the price I believe people expect too much from a soft top ie: absolutely no leaks. Every soft top jeep I have been in leaks to some degree. Anyway, this top was an intricate and tedious install but the quality is worth it and having glass is fantastic. I recommend this if you can spend the cash.
I run this top on my 2016 Rubicon unlimited since two years. It is a easy to install top. Best feature is fast access to rear compartment with glass windows. My dog has fresh air due to the sliders. The only downside - I t is noisy in comparison to the hardtop. Radio cannot be used and I have to stop for telephone calls.
Sunrider fun function is very good. Everything dry - even in the carwash.
Superb customer service sent me spare rear glass After it broke during repair.
I bought this top for an '07 Sahara Unlimited that my daughter drives as the factory soft top was pretty worn and starting to leak. I selected this top due to having the liftgate glass in the rear as my daughter needed better access to the the rear cargo area to haul large musical instruments. After having it on the Jeep for five months and about five thousand miles she is pretty happy with it. She definitely likes the glass side and rear windows for the winter. She said it is less noisy than the factory top which is a plus as well. The only downside I have with the top is that the rear quarter side panels would not stay in the channels at first and kept coming out but once the top relaxed a bit it seems to be okay now. It also took a while to get everything adjusted in the rear. Lastly the drivers side rear window frame was scratched and dented when I pulled it out of the box. Since I didn't have time to return it I repaired it myself as best I could and the daughter touched up the paint on the window frame. It came out pretty good but I was disappointed that it came out of the box brand new from the factory damaged. All in all we are pretty pleased with the top and are planning on upgrading to be able to use the rear heated glass and wiper options.
I'm on my 4th jeep build, 4th Bestop soft top purchased, and it's awesome. It's worth the extra $ just to get rid of the zippers and the glass rear window is a dream come true. Installation took me 3.5 hours by myself. Would have taken 2.5 if I didn't try to do it on a 50 degree day. Last jeep had the NX Trek Twill version which was great but this one is even quieter.
I gave 4 stars since the plastic rear cross bar holder blew apart off after installing the bar into it. Bestop is always good with sending out replacement parts but it'll take two hours to dissamble and replace the piece.
Mixed review.
I like the solid windows and rear window.
However, when it rains, it floods around the rear window, filling the storage trough under the mat in the rear. It is usually a pond! Water pours in around the driver side window and the passenger window. I have to regularly remove the floor mats and vacuum the carpet with a shop vac. I was sick last summer and unable to drive for several months. I didn't realize the leak was so severe. The seats mildewed.
I have added foam strips in every place it is leaking. It hasn't helped. I need to build a pole barn to cover it!
The video on how to install the top contains parts that are not listed on the instructions part list (six knobs), so after a week of having the top- I still can't install it because I don't have the correct parts. I will update this review once I actually get all the parts. Paying $2,200+ for something and not receiving all the necessary parts for the install the first time is very frustrating.
1. Concept is amazing 2. Looks Amazing 3. Leaks like crazy in the back but also front L & R corners 4. I told them and they said I installed it wrong (Really? I reinstalled the whole thing after you said that, following diligently. You know what happened? Same thing) 5. Do something about it and make me a believer again
