Reviews for Dirtydog 4X4 Front Sun Screen for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Easy to install
I really enjoy having a little shade to keep the glare off the dash.
Nice top. If you strip down completely, the top is easy to put on and off.
If you like to just strip off the front panels, it can be a pain.
However, here is a secret I learned to install and remove with the back hard top in place.
You need two 12-18” pieces of webbing, two webbing connectors, and one safety pin.
1. The middle strap goes around just the metal part of the middle support. With the back top in place, you might be able to convince a long zip tie to go under. When it pops out the other end, then pull it back with something like a straightened hanger. This may let you get the strap around the first time without removing the back. When you are ready to take the sun shade off, stop — loosen the middle strap, then safety pin one of the side extender black webbing pieces to it. Slowly pull back, and when the extra piece is all the way around, un-pin it from the top, pin it to itself, and just shove out of sight. When ready to re-install, pull the hidden webbing back out, pin it to the end of the middle strap, and just pull back around.
2. On the two side straps, the buckle sits on top, no way to reach while back top is on. Use the two extender straps and connectors so the buckle can go on the bottom, where it is accessible.
You only need two pieces of strapping, because one moves from the middle to the side as you install, from side to middle when you remove.
It was a great product, but misleading. If you have installed grib bars, then you have no access to that hole for the clip to attached too without removing your grip bars. So, unfortunate. It gets a star, only because there is no mention of this in the product. If so, I would have known it would not install probably.
I returned this product after wrestling with it for over an hour as I attempted to install. The design makes installation much more difficult that it needs to be.
