Reviews for Crown Automotive 53010624AC Oil Pump Drive Assembly for 05-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited with 4.0L 6 Cylinder Engine
Dropped it in with no problems, 4K miles still no problems.
Does what it’s supposed to. Replaced faulty factory part. GOOD IDEA TO REPLACE THIS BEFORE YOU LOSE ENGINE. Worth the money for peace of mind
Seems to be working fine. Peace of mind now. Note, use your old camshaft sensor or it will throw codes.
Read instructions and watch videos before you dive in. Bolt clamp is the worst part. I used an offset , box end wrench. 45 minutes max to get it done, some can do it in 10. No big deal. No problem with part to date.
Worked great and cured my laughing monkeys. Just be sure to use the factory sensor
The Check Engine Light came on in my 2006 TJ, and my Jeep when into "Limp mode" which would only allow the RPM to hit 3200 before it would seemingly hit a rev limiter. I used a friends code scanner to see what the issue was. I had the P0016 code (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation). I looked this code up on a couple forums, and I found that although not always, the OPDA was a very common culprit with this error code. Despite the fact that I had NO signs of the "Laughing Monkeys" and the production date of my Jeep fell outside of the ones that been effected by this problem, I figured it was worth the while to take a look at the ODPA. Sure enough, when I removed the OEM OPDA, there were signs of ware on the helix gear. I ordered this Crown Automotive OPDA because it was reengineered (apparently) to prevent this wear. Installation was a breeze, and it cleared my CEL almost instantly. Extremely happy with the results! I would recommend that anyone who has this code to check the stock OPDA out, even if they do not have some of the tell-tale signs. A cheap fix could save you from a catastrophic engine failure!
I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ with the 4.0 Straight 6. A recall came out soon after the build that relates to engines blowing up for lack of oil. Around the same time, the engine light on my Jeep came on and the engine would not accelerate over 3200 RPM. It would "governor" out like I was racing down the road at 6000 RPM. This part eliminated that problem and cleared the Engine light. I also got my Cruise Control back. One part, 3 problems fixed. Thank you Crown Automotive for building a "better than OEM" part. Thank you, Quadratec, for being a company that loves Jeep lovers. Oh, also, follow the directions that are included and it is a simple install. Took less that 10 minutes.
What a breeze of an install! I think I watched every YouTube video on removing the OPDA, read all how to articles on every jeep related forum, but I still felt uneasy about doing the swap myself. After a solid dose of "what's the worst that could happen" I gathered my tools and began the delicate operation. Honestly 30 min is all it takes from hood up to hood latched, and the best part is no CEL's afterward. My 2005 LJ Rubicon just started the "barrel of laughing monkeys" screeching at 125,023 miles. The OPDA comes with the alignment pin and a gasket for it to seal against the block. I decided to reuse my factory sensor and keep the one included as a backup. I did have to turn my engine over by hand to get the wheel to line up with the alignment pin, once that was secured I photographed the position of the OPDA then rotated it counterclockwise to remove. I was shocked that there was no sign of a previous gasket (I knew I had a leak from it but still!). I then cleaned the area and installed the new OPDA, made sure it was in a the same position and snugged everything back down. I am very happy with this new improved design and hope it brings many years of trouble free operation. Now I just need to takle that valve cover leak...
