Reviews for Crown Automotive Front Fender for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
received in great condition and looks to be in very well built.
These worked great! When I purshased my jeep originally the front fenders were pretty rough due to an accident, but relacing them made them look back to normal. We got the Jeep painted about a year ago, and the bonding of the paint to the primed metal of the new fenders is still holding out strong, so thats a nice bonus. I will say that this is a LONG PROCESS to do. Uninstialling the factory fenders and installing these most of the day, probably due to the limited amount of people I had helping me out. Just make sure you keep all the bolts and such to instal all the under the hood stuff back in place prooperly. I'd give it a 5 if the pieces fit into posistion perfectly, but like most car projects there was a bit of fenagaling to get it to match up just right, but it ended up working our great so I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
Fit perfect but some holes are in wrong sides
Fender bolted right up no problem - BUT - EVERY hole for the flares is in the wrong location and the holes for hood clasp are 1/2 inch too far back. Not worth all the work involved. I sourced a used OE rust-free fender and this piece of crap is sitting in my garage.
Fender has some minor issues mostly metal imperfections and the hood clasp bolt hole was 1/2 inch off
Stunningly terrible quality replacement fenders. Dented panels, poor welds, buckled metal from poor shipping protection….and that doesn’t even begin to talk about the misalignment of welded sections. So much work had to be done to correct these defects. I should have just cut out the rust on my OEM fenders, and welded in new steel. It would have been less work. Welds had either come apart, or were just entirely missed. Some panels were barely spot welded. I was not at all expecting perfection, nor did I require it. I just wanted something I could paint, and install, not have to repair first. I wouldn’t call these complete junk, but close! This company should not be making this kind of poor quality parts. One side was better than the other, and required less work, but you’re totally taking your chances with this product. They also feel less rigid than the originals. I didn’t measure the gauge, but felt cheaper/thinner.
I’ll give it 1 star because it actually bolted on. But that’s about the only good thing I can say. The finish was terrible with big bubbles that cracked and lost the coat, the actual fender had weird large imperfections and dents everywhere. It almost looked poorly “refurbished”. And don’t even think about using your old flares, they don’t line up with the body line in the front of the fender at all. Overall, looks bad and now I’ll have to cut it up and go with some aftermarket ones. 200 bucks for this crap was waaay too much for the hunk of junk I got. Definitely skipping anything from this manufacturer in the future.
