Reviews for SpiderWebShade SW1 JK-4D Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
Does a great job filtering out the sun but I had a few issues during installation.
First off, the 2 holes for the hard top screws wouldn't line up. Tried readjusting the spiderwebshade but still can't get it to align permanently.
Secondly, there was a bit of sag at the front, between the corners and mounting points at the front doors. It's much better after a few weeks of use. Overall a good product.
The Spiderweb shade does what exactly it says it does and keeps the sun from beating down on you during the HOT days. Really filters the sun out and keeps you cool and my children safe. i would like to see the shade wide enough to touch the bars as i have about a 2-3 inch gap on both sides and include a set of instructions or just say check out the video on you tube. overall great product and highly recommended.
Great product works as intended. I do not like the small holes where the freedom top screws go. They never line up requiring the force of a small army to stretch the shade so you can quickly place the freedom top screws from the bottom. I’d go with a two piece system over this one long shade.
Great product, high quality. I knocked a star off because the directions are in the form of an online video, which doesn't explain several things. Most importantly, when I went to put my hardtop on, the freedom panels have two screw bolts that secure the back portion of this in place. the screen has 2 eyelets to allow these to pass through, but if its not aligned perfectly, they you will ultimately have the take the hardtop back off, completely readjust the screen, then put the hardtop back on. The directions do not mention anything about this, and it should be included. I would also disagree with filtering 90% of the UV rays because it doesn't seem to filter 90% of the light, although it does provide some nice shade in the full summer sun. The spider ball mounting system is nice and very secure. The balls need to be adjusted when putting the hardtop on. The front of the screen also makes it hard to get the freedom panels on and off and several of the spider balls have to be removed in order to allow a hand in to latch and unlatch the freedom panels. I knocked another star off for these issues.
I bought this screen a few years ago and due work and local weather was not able to put it on until today. The bungies were all slightly all different size except the 3 small front ones, they were a lot different and one was so small it was almost impossible to put on and will need to be cut off. Also no instructions came with it and I needed to pull it up online to make sure I was putting it on right. I will update the rating when I see how it goes in the next couple day and take it off.
Hey guys! I would have would given this mesh top 5 stars for its performance. Loved the bungee cord ball design. The top performed great. They advertise you can install the hardtop over it. However, when I tried to install my hard top over it, I ran into some problems. The mesh screen was blocking my access to the handles that tighten the Freedom panels down, so I could not tighten them. Also, the two access holes they made to allow for your Freedom Panel mounting knobs to be inserted are way to small and must be perfectly aligned or it wont work. Those need to be at least 2" in diameter to allow for easy access. I had to box it back up and am now deciding on a new mesh top that can stay installed with my hard top. I wish the SpiderwebShade came in a two piece version for the front and rear passengers.
Let me tell you all the ways this product failed to meet expectations on my 2013 JKU during a short trip down the Shore.
1 - Inexplicably there are two grommet holes in the front center, which means you get to choose whether it’s off center to the driver or passenger side.
2 - FLAP FLAP FLAP goes the Spiderwebshade as you drive down the road and it beats against your crossbar/speakers. I thought this thing was supposed to reduce noise, not create new ones. Maybe you’ll have better luck with the two piece?
3 - Easily compatible with your existing top? Notsomuch. I had to remove the two Spider balls from the front and really force the brackets to secure my soft top.
Return requested.
Not sure about this new design but the previous design was just terrible. When I contacted customer service about it, the recognized that what they sold before was not ideal but refused to back up their product.
