Reviews for Quadratec QR3 Front Tube Winch Mount Bumper with Hoop with Rear Tube Bumper & Free Side Steps for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ
I love the tubular bumpers
Easy install for the most part. The rear bumper gave me some trouble, but that was probably user error. Front bumper and side steps were very easy. Very happy with the look and great price!
looks great easy to install
Very pleased with these. The texture coat is an awesome look, matches well with the Rhino coated fender flares. Very easy straight forward installation, except for the four bolts in the rear bumper....
This installed fairly simply except for the rear bumper. I thought I would never get the stock bumper off because the inner end of the mounting bolts are inside the frame. I finally had to cut the heads off of two of the bolts. Once off, I was able to clean everything up and repaint everything that is exposed with rust converting paint. I did the same in front. Putting the rear bumper mounts on was much easier than expected.
The side steps went on easily but my Jeep has running boards and there were a girl-dog to get off. Had to cut the heads off of several of the mounting screws but all went fairly well.
I found that the body mounts were in rough shape. The rubber is nearly dead and the metal parts are seriously rusted. So I''m replacing the body mounts and bolts. This 'may' help with the ride a bit; it might be a bit smoother.
So, I think the kit is great. It installed easily with only a few surprises. My suggestion to anyone with an older Jeep (mine is a '93 YJ) is to order new body mounts and bolts so you can replace them when you install this bumper kit. It looks great . I just installed the winch mounting plate and will buy a winch once I decide which one to get.
I recommend this bumper kit. Good quality parts and it looks great.
Loved these for years. Put them on in 2015 so I can't complain too much. However the rear bumper is rusted to the point that its falling off and the side step drivers side weld at the bracket is tearing loose so I can't use it to step up now. Considering that I do not live in the rust belt and keep my TJ in the garage both at home and at work, I find this disappointing. As a structural engineer I can tell you that these use the thinnest possible wall pipe to remain at such a competitive price point. Not sure about the QRC series in comparison but I would not buy the QR3 again knowing what I know now.
