Reviews for Quadratec Half Steel Door Handles in Black for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited
The product is quite functional, and looks nice. It has a solid feel when opening and closing. There are three things to be aware of, however: 1) the gasket isn’t included and Quadratec doesn’t offer a replacement, 2) the mounting holes were painted *after* they were threaded, so the first attachment will take some pressure to gnaw out the paint, and 3) the rod clip which attaches the handle to the other mechanisms is poor quality and mine arrived mounted upside down. So, I kept and used the gasket from my original handles, and took out the included rod clips and used my original rod clips — mounted in the correct direction.
Identical fit for a 1997 TJ, but the screws aren't threaded the same.
The initial quality of the coating is pretty good. Looks great on my newly finished half doors. My main issue is that of the clips that hold the rods in place. My factory ones were still good and I would reuse them if I could, but they don't fit. The ones that came with the Quadratec handles are terrible. There's a lot of slop in them, and they are very flexible, making me wonder if I'm gonna get stranded outside without being able to open my doors if the clip lets go randomly. I wanted to adjust the rod to be tighter so you don't have to pull as far for them to release the latch, but that proved to be impossible as the clip would let go.
