Reviews for Rampage Products 86623 Rear Interior Sport Rack for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
A great additional to Jeep. My wife loves it when grocery shopping, as she gets 2 shelves to stack groceries on. With top off, the bars around the shelf offer a great tie down location when needed. I had a problem when it arrived with a missing bolt and Rampage wanted me to pack up and ship the entire unit (it is heavy) back to them for a replacement. All for a $1 screw found at the local auto parts store. They could not send me the missing screw. Quadratec support was helpful but Rampage was not. Quadratec offered to refund me for the bolt, but Quadratec has been good to work with, not going to bother about that dollar.
Easier to install than I thought it would be. The latches for the swing up feature are nearly useless. They don't reach their locking plates easily. The included allen wrench to tihhten the set screws was not the correct size and stripped the head right out of one. Good thing I can release the handle and unhook the one latch by hand. Other than that it seems like a good solid piece of kit.
All in all a good product, installation was a snap, & the shelf is very functional. I have only one complaint & that is the latch hook set up, the small allen nut to secure the hooks are flimsy at best, when I tightened them down they both stripped & I needed to spot weld them in place in order for everything to work correctly, not a big deal for me & as soon as I saw the connections I was going to weld them in anyway.
Installation was straight forward and easy, took me a little under an hour to un-package and install. Build quality is what led me to give it a 4 star review, as one latching hook was loose due to a spot weld breaking. This will be an easy fix, but would expect slightly better spot welds for this price range. Additionally, I used 3M double sided tape to protect the paint on my roll bars where part of the mounting is located. Otherwise, it operates as advertised and I do like it!
Overall, the shelf is well designed. Fits nicely, it moves perfectly, and it doesn't rattle. The only issue I had was similar to another on here, the cast crap-iron they used for the roll bar bracket broke on both sides. Just cracks while tightening down.
Re-engineered with a pair of exhaust clamps. 100x stronger than the bracket included. I wanted to give it 4 stars, but the cheap bracket is a big issue and could be a huge issue for those who want a simple plug and play solution.
Not a good product, bracket takes up a lot of space under the basket. Locking feet didn’t line up. Needed to wrap brackets in rubber to keep from constantly rattling.
Watch out with the clamps on these, upon install, one cracked all the way through even before I was able to torque the bolt all the way in. Metal was weak. Submitted warranty claim with photos for that part and Rampage is dragging their feet on replacement.
