Reviews for AEV 10404003AB Hawse Fairlead License Plate Mount
Installed on ARB bumper, took very minor bending to make it fit far enough back into fairlead hole, no more than five minutes additional work. Much better solution than the ARB mounting location. Very happy with the mount, would buy again.
Does as advertised.
Great look. Easy install
Excellent. Bought for an ARB bumper implementation, which also came with one. This one was better construction with easy thumbscrews.
Used this with a Tactik front bumper and winch combo. Fit without needing any modification and looks amazing!
Good quality overall, but had issue with the powder coat in the threaded nut. Had to chase threads with a 1/4-20 tap to get to thread. Used with a Fishbone Piranha front bumper and winch mount, had to mount upside down due to brush guard, perfect solution.
I use this part in Japan, but the size of the license plate and the mounting hole size are different from the US, so processing is necessary.
Our state requires a front license plate. The bumper we purchased didn't provide a mounting location so we went with this. So far it works great. When we were out on the trail last weekend we unscrewed the plate and tossed it in the back seat. While airing back up, it took longer to find the plate than it did to screw it back on.
Nice quality, however could be better for closed-loop winch setups that utilize flatlink winch connections. For my setup, I have a Factor 55 spliced flat-link on my winch. This is too large of a head to fit through the opening on the license plate bracket. If I had a regular flat-link I could remove the pin and taken it off the winch rope, to thread the rope through the bracket, however since mine is spliced it cannot be removed...to solve this I took a saw and cut an inch out of the center of the bottom of bracket so I could slip the rope through without into the fairlead opening without needing to remove my flat-link. 1st problem solved. But, after install I realized the license plate bracket also does not hold the license plate far enough out/forward off the fairlead to clear a Factor 55 Flat-link, and thus could not install the license plate onto the bracket I mounted unless it was at a sloping angle (which made screwing the actual plate to the bracket difficult). To solve this second issue I had to remove the license plate bracket and flip it upside down & reinstall, so it holds my plate from below the hawse fairlead now instead of from above. If you don't have a Flat-link closed-loop type winch hook then this bracket would work well for you out of the box and I'd probably give it 5 out of 5 stars. But because it doesn't work well with closed-loop systems, and took extra effort, I gave it 3 out of 5. Once installed, it is solid and has a nice flat black finish I believe will hold up well. I also took pics but nowhere to attach them on this review, sorry!
Quality looks okay, but does not fit the stock steel bumper on a JT. It would not sit flush and also doesn't cover up many of the holes exposed when removing the plastic cover plate. Must be for AEV's bumper instead despite the Quadratec description saying it will fit, what a waste to have to pay to ship it back.
