After replacing my starter, I noticed the heat shield was looking a little ratty. The staples had rusted and weren’t holding the shield together. Flecks of metal from it were falling on to me as I reinstalled it. I held it together with a safety pin. I figured a new one would be best. Just a word of caution - disconnect your battery if the starter is already installed. I completely forgot to do that. The metal on the shield contacted the connectors which led to sparking. Luckily, my starter is fine. Other than that, it’s a perfect fit.
