Reviews for Bestop Traditional Bikini Tops for 76-91 Jeep CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler & Wrangler YJ
Looks great and fits great.
Nice, but if you have a top rail that curves down at the ends, you will need to cut off the curved portion and replace with the included snaps
i like the shad provided, but I have two problems. It is very very difficult to get the snaps on the end of the top near the windsheild to actually snap to the ones mounted to the windshield frame. I have been unable to get them to go together at this point. The second gripe is that once you hit 45mph the top starts flapping between the windshield frame and the roll bar. I have tried tightening, but it hasn't made it better. Maybe once I get the snaps toghether this will improve, but that seems like it won't happen at this point.
I had problems with the fold in front fitting the channel on my windshield frame. The top it replaced was the same brand, but it fits slightly differently. Where the welting on the sides gets rolled under to make the fold that fits in the windshield channel it makes it too thick right by the snaps. Also the black webbing straps that tie to the back of the tub and their attendant plastic buckles are of lesser quality than previous versions.
We love the classic look but these tops don’t last more than a year or two. Actually, it’s the straps and buckles that break first. It’s very frustrating to throw away new looking tops every couples years just b/c the straps or buckles give out. Certainly there is a better quality strap that can be used?
Purchased the charcoal color to match the charcoal Bestop seats that I purchased a couple of years ago. Did not come close to matching! The top is a very light gray color. Looks more like charcoal after it has been burned. The straps are also a lot thinner than my old Bestop bikini top. Not too impressed with this one
OK quality, attachment at windshield is not good. Had to take to Uphoulstry shop and have the front edge adjusted to fit. Most likely made by someone who has never owned or seen a Jeep.
