Reviews for Vertically Driven Products Round Nose Padded Console for 76-95 Jeep CJ & Wrangler YJ
Nice console from sizing, fit, easy installation and look/feel. This console fits great in my 1991 YJ. I rated a 4 (3.5 really) as I found out it is not waterproof and the inside molded after sitting in the rain. Jeeps have drain holes to let the water out but this has no holes and does not have a lip on the top under the lid so water gets in fairly easily. I feel the description needs to clearly state that it is NOT weatherproof. Outside of that, I really like it. With a small improvement on the design this will get 5 stars.
Looks great and does the job. Would give 5 stars but the cooler top was missing.
This fits my 95 yj and looks great. I’m giving it four stars because the lock mechanism does not secure the top completely. It could be open if someone wanted to.
Everything was nice. A bit of a tight fit. Hard to lift the passenger seat up... But, rarely do that anyway.
Thanks it works great.
Does the basic function of being an armrest, cup holder, and storage bin.
Fits the CJ-7 perfectly.
Construction is mediocre.
Materials -- fabric is OK but the pressboard frame is sub par for an outdoor product like a Jeep.
If you never take the roof off and never get any weather inside your Jeep it will be OK for a while but it will eventually wear out because this type of processed wood isn't meant to hold up to wear and tear.
Installation is simple if you have basic tools and skill but for a more sturdy mount you will need to modify. The install as designed is certain to fail.
I ended up drilling larger holes in the steel mounting plate and in the floor of the console so I could use a machine bolt / nut / washer set up. Bolt goes in from the top into nut underneath with fender washers all around. See my pictures for reference. This makes it MUCH more stable but I think eventually the wood will still wear loose.
At over $60 this seems too much for what it is, however it's the least expensive way to get basic console. If I were to buy again I might save up and go for one made of tougher material like metal or composite. That's because I use the Jeep for off-road and top down adventures and need something that will last longer.
Again if you aren't as rough it might last longer for you.
Quadratec as always is top notch company and great to buy from.
Does not keep water out and molded within 45 days
Lock didn't lock correctly because the 1/16" screws fell out the cheap plywood. I like the size, but lifting the passenger seat takes skill to get the seat belt back in place. It also doesnt sit correct to screw into the body. Not happy and quite disappointed.
