Reviews for OMIX 11609.30 4 Piece OE-Style Fender Flare Kit for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Trying to go back original.
Comes in a four piece kit
These look great-just like factory. They also fit perfectly with no problems. However, the hardware that comes with them is a little cheap. The clips and push pins were fine, but we had a terrible time with the rivets. They kept breaking instead of tightening. We went through all the ones that came with the kit. I already had some, but they were small, so we had to get creative to make them work. Other than the rivet issue, they worked well.
I would say that the installation is a pain. It isn’t difficult, but it does take a good amount of time and is just tedious removing the rivets and pins and then putting in the new ones. Plan ahead with extra parts and extra time and all will be good.
A few tips to help the next person;
*Good quality parts
*Comes with extra clips and push pins for inner fender liners.
*Hardware is packed at the end of one of the fender’s plastic protective sleeves.
Front Fenders -
1. Flip the front fenders upside down on a blanket, insert the fender support piece in the new fender before trying to install the fender. It can take some pulling and pushing to get the support to pop in. Once it’s in flat you can insert the fender’s T shaped clips. Line up holes and the fender should pop right in.
2. T shaped slide on clips... if you use your finger nail to slightly pull up the inside outer edges of the clips they will slip right in... I forced most of them on until I figured this out. Be sure to jiggle the clips side to side until you hear them click... if not they can rotate on you while trying to install the flares. I had a few do that on the 1st flare.
3. The first hole in the FRONT of the front flares are punched similar to the rest of the fender’s holes, but without the inner edge open like the rest, can’t slide the T-clip in on these, that’s because it uses the round push in body pin and not the T-clips.
REAR FENDERS
1. The flare had one extra hole for a T-clip than my 2013 JK did. This messed me up installing, because I had more than half of the flare already attached before I noticed this. So match up and compare your holes in flares to your Jeep body holes before pushing in the flares.
2. Rear Inner liners... best I could figure is install flares first, then slide inners in.... they are a pain in the rear to slide in under the flares edge !!! Be careful not to pull up too hard on your flares outer edge trying to get the inners in under the flare’s lip or you’ll pull the flares off the T-clips... I had a section of fender pull off the clips and I had to break them to get them out and replace. Thank goodness they supply more than you need.
I know it was long, but hope it helps!
God Bless
After a few stumbles to get the right year of my Jeep I finally got these. I paid a couple of hundred to get them mounted locally since as a retiree, this is not my thing. They look awesome but although the box SAYS mounting hardware included, it was not, nor were there any instructions for mounting. Thank goodness I read the reviews here for similar products because I purchased a separate mounting kit in addition to the flares.
