great u-joints.
Very stout replacement for my 43 year old original that failed on my 76 CJ5.
Same here, bought this to carry as a spare. I expect it will work if/when needed.
i was tired of changing U-joints once every year, i heard about Spicer and how long they last and how strong they are. I bought the GREASEABLE U joint for my 97 Wrangler Sport about 5 years ago and it has yet to fail. mind you my jeep is lifted 6" and has a slip yoke eliminator. and i have had no issues at all.
For the product I say it's good. My last pair of u-joints on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee Classic had been in so long, but the caps were a really tight fit as well. So tight in fact, I had to press each joint out, the hammer was unsuccessful. The old u-joints were not greaseable, and I am so glad I bought these ones. These new u-joints were the exact same diameter as my old ones. My driveline is probably a bit out of square; otherwise I would have been able to hammer them in or vise them as numerous YouTube videos pointed out to me. Also, I used a lot of brake parts cleaner and a wire brush to clean my yokes and driveline before installing the new u-joints. The zerk fitting being on the cap makes it so much easier, and I did make sure the grease came out at the seals, which means each part of your u-joint is getting grease. Type in Spicer Universal Joint Lubrication Path on YouTube, it's a great visual illustration. So after installing the u-joints, I have driven about thirty miles so far. Most of the vibrations that I felt have disappeared, but I still need to wait a couple thousand miles and see what happens.
