Reviews for Bestop Cable-Style Safari Bikini Top for 10-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door
Great Top, No problem with flapping as long as ALL the straps are configuration just as BESTOP's instructions states and pulled tight. I had one backward on the back and it did loosen and flap but once it was corrected any flapping did not reoccur. This top is as good as the TJs tops I have had in the past. ignore the haters, I assume their tops were not installed right.
I really wanted a bikini top but it seemed that all of the vendors had mixed reviews. Since my JK already had the door surrounds, I decided to take a chance and get the cable style bikini. At first I could not get the cables to tighten around the door surrounds enough so that it was pulled down the surrounds like the photos, or tighten the straps in back so that it didn't sag. I did my best and drove it around and stopped every few miles to tighten the straps. After a few adjustments, the fit is almost perfect and doesn't flop much on the highway. I'm glad I took a chance as I'm very satisfied with the fit and function!
Great Top - tried another top first and needed to replace it with this top.
I purchased an earlier version of this product back in 2012 and had huge flapping issues. But rest assured, there is an easy fix, gents. Buy a 10' piece of 1"x1" cherry at your local hardware store. Cut the wood so as to give it a 1/2" clearance between the roll bars. Using a staple gun, secure it to the underside of the back flap. It stiffens the trailing edge and solves the problem totally.
It will cost you $2, a couple of wood staples, and take about 15 minutes to finish.
Another idea, for those who like to experiment, is purchase a thin piece of steel or aluminum. You can't use a staple gun to attach this but a creative guy will figure out another way.
does not fit anything like the catalog picture shows , cables do not hold top over door surrounds as it said it will , header bar is not as long as windshield so it does not come over door surrounds , rear hold down straps go under seat belt retractor -the straps get wedged /pinched by retractor and are very difficult to adjust. overall , save your money and by the cheaper basic bikini top
Read the reviews on this top and thought surely it couldn't be as bad as described...I was wrong. I'm not sure how a company could even release a product as terrible as this. First off, I followed the instructions to the letter. The top us just barely wide enough to fit around the surrounds. The back, even when tightened, goes slack after about a mile and starts flapping violently... To the point of almost ripping the seams of the straps. Save your money, buy a different top!
Bestop products always give me fitment issues and this one was no exception. Top was too narrow to properly fit over the door surrounds and the back canopy constantly came loose and violently flapped. It was the most annoying top to date. I now use a smittybilt bikini and the rain in the sides is less annoying.
Returned product, rear straps would not stay tight and flapping was too much. Could be fixed with grommets and lacing. But for the money did not think I needed to spend more money to fix a design issue.
This product does not fit the jeep as advertised. My issue is the back straps do not stay put. As I drive around they loosen up. Once that happens, the back portion of the top flaps around in the wind like a flag and when stopped, it hangs down and I cant see behind me. This happens all the time now. Pretty dangerous when this happens on the highway!! I thought more $$$ would mean more quality - very disappointed
