Reviews for Crown Automotive 5016709AD Multi-Function Switch for 01-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ with Fog Lamps
Installed this today on my 2004 Wrangler Unlimited. Watched a great video on YouTube and replaced it in about an hour. Discovered the screws under the steering wheel were Torx, not Phillips head screws, FYI. Otherwise, it involves removing 4 screws and disconnecting two harnesses. Don't forget to transfer the relay from the old to the new and to transfer the turn signal lever (2 more screws). It was WAY easier than I expected. I replaced the switch because the old switch would no longer turn the fog lights on. Everything works like a charm.
Awesome, literally took me 20 minutes to install and no problems works great. So happy my fog lights don't stay on all the time like they did with my OEM unit. Super happy. Rock on Quadratec!
Haha I have fog lights that I can use from inside my Jeep with the flip of the factory switch, Love it!!! Install was quite easy too, although I had to reuse my wiper switch assembly, but since nothing was wrong with it everything worked out great. Easy fix, only like 4 screws to r&r. Easy job save yourself the cost of labor from some shop and do-it-yourself!!!
Installed very easy on '04 TJ Sport. It's much more stuff than the OEM....but it's also not 13 years old. Very happy with it.
Seems to be high quality. One other reviewer said it didn't feel as good as OEM but not sure what they are talking about... visually it is indistinguishable from the original and the plastic feels the same to me. The only difference in feel is that the clicking action is a bit stronger and takes a tiny bit more force to operate, which makes sense to me because my other switch was 15 years old.
I've always felt that Crown Automotive sells high quality Jeep parts and I'm happy when I find that the part I need is available from them.
The only thing I can see that might be cutting corners is that the visible metal on the back of the OEM is copper and the replacement is not... you can see parts of some of the circuitry on the backside... and I assume that the cheaper route was taken with the replacement part but it seems fine to me.
Works like it should, OEM Fitment is right on, solid product
I own a 2001 tj. Part arrived undamaged and nothing missing. Installation went well. Part fit perfectly. It worked flawlessly for six months. Then we noticed when we turn the lights on then pull the handle out to turn on the fog lights the headlights go out. We then repeat the process once or twice and things work ok. The headlights have never quit working While driving. This amounts to a minor inconvenience and the part may be ok and it might be another problem.
Does the job, perfect replacement. Feels every so slightly lesser quality than OEM though, something about the clicks and snaps just doesn't sound or feel quite as nice.
This seems to be a quality product and possibly would have received 5 stars from me, if it came with instructions! Removal of the old multi-switch and subsequent installation of the new one seems straight forward...after some frustration with the signals/hazard lights not working, i went to some jeep forum sites/videos. You must remove a relay switch from the back of the old unit and place it in the new one! Unfortunately, this is not as obvious as it sounds...instructions from the manufacturer would be appreciated. Quadratec customer service was very easy and excellent to deal with!! If you want a company to stand behind another company's product, buy from Quadratec!!!
This is the second time in less then three years I have replaced this unit.1st it was because the fog lights would not shut off. So I had to disable them until I replaced the unit. Now it was because the low beams would not function and the high beams would only work intermittently.
Easy to replace and currently fixed the problem.
Let's see how long this one lasts before another malfunction. Next time I'll try a different manufacturer. .
