This Jul 20, 2021 purchase was to get yet another new cylinder lock for the RotopaX lockable pack mount, as this time I was not able to source only the cylinder lock. My cylinder lock was inside the pack mount and wouldn't unlock. I had to cut of pull and grind to get the thing apart to get the gas cans off. This was not really a concern, as things like this happen, especially in Ohio winters. I was more bothered by the lack of available replacement parts. Whatever. However... the threaded shaft on the new RotopaX LOX Pack Mount is 1/4" shorter than my old one, and thus won't fit. Seriously?!? Again... whatever. No time to send it back and wait for a return, and hope it was correct. I simply had to use a vice, a hammer, a punch, and a tap-and-die set to transfer the old shaft to the new lock. I made sure to diligently clean and lube the new lock on a regular basis. However... the new lock only lasted until Spring of 2023, when the tumblers fell out. Junk. That would be lock #3... no more. I used a two-part epoxy resin, a grinder, a tap-and-die, and a nut with a bolt with a security head and made my own lock.

Do not buy the locking hold down! Second time I used, the lock slid in and locked but when I tried to remove the lock it wouldn’t release. The key would turn but the lock cylinder would not come out. I tried everything lube, tapping, twisting with pliers.
Nothing worked.
The locking hold down is the only problem I have had with the RotopaX everything else has been great.
