Reviews for AEV 2.5in DualSport XT Suspension System for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Very durable lift. 5 years in and no problems so far
The ride is so much better than stock. I installed the geometry correction brackets with the lift because I've made the mistake of keeping my control arm geometry stock when lifting previous Jeeps and ended up with a terrible ride. I can't say for sure how much of a different they made since I did everything at once, but everything together made me so happy with my Jeep. It's a pretty straightforward install. There's some minor trimming of the inner fender needed to make accessing one of the front upper shock mounts, but I was able to do that with a pair of wire cutters. I did it in my driveway with basic tools, two floor jacks, a couple of jack stands, and some wheel chocks. I recommend using two floor jacks because it'll allow you to move the axle around and let you take the stock springs out and install the new springs without needing spring compressors.
As others have stated, instructions are a bit lacking but not a roadblock if you are mechanically inclined. I installed this lift by myself, in the driveway in about 10 hours. I'm no longer a spring chicken and think I could've done this in 6 hours in my 30's. Components are good quality and the ride is much better than stock. The tuned shocks handle everything I've thrown at it. I don't think you can beat this setup at this price point. Worst parts are installing front shocks and removing the mounting bracket for the front brake lines. This lift is complimented with the Quadratec Wagon Wheels and Toyo 35/11.50R17 AT3 tires. I also feel this a perfect fitment for this lift with no rubbing or trimming.
Installation was pretty straight-forward. it did take a bit longer than I thought, but I was able to install this in an auto hobby shop all by myself. The ride is so much nicer than stock and I love the new stance. I paired the lift with 34" tires and blue Method wheels. I was super happy with the new look and ride. I did install the geometry corrections brackets a few days after the lift, but once I did, it made a huge difference with drift in the steering wheel. If installing on a JK, be prepared to get creative to get access to the front passenger shock. I had to trim the honeycomb plastic just to get a wrench in there.
Added this to my 2012 JKU Sahara last Summer (2022) and could not be happier. The ride was improved in every conceivable way and much better than stock. Whether it is uneven surface streets and going over train tracks or hitting off road trails the ride is smoother and made the Jeep feel new and fun to drive again. I just wish I had done it when I bought it new rather than wait ten years.
This is a great kit. Everything fit perfect. Jeep rides better on the road now than before kit was installed. Very good quality
Great product, not too difficult to install, but very time consuming. It was my first time installing a lift and nothing was really overly difficult. I would definitely recommend renting a pair of compressors for the springs, I could jack the body high enough while dropping the axle enough to make the springs fit uncompressed. Also, make sure you download the installation instructions from the AEW website, the ones on Quadratec are outdated.
This is pretty much a complete kit, but I did add some supplemental parts added Geometry correction brackets, Yeti adjustable front trackbar, Hellwig rear sway bar, Teraflex Front Brake relocation kit, longer sway bar links for the rear (swapped the stock rear links to the front), and a Bilstein steering stabilizer.
I honestly feel like my Jeep rides smoother and tighter than stock, couldn't be any happier with it all.
Just got done installing the kit. Everything went together well,
Rear end was done in less than two hours. Pretty fast and looked good. Moving to the front end added some time. Almost 8 hours for 3 people working. We used spring compressors and did not drop the axle completely. that may have been an error.
The end link brackets were problematic. We got them installed, but the directions were confusing (at least to us). one required some minor relieving to get them to fix.
I would buy it again, but wanted to call out that I think the time required to complete is problematic for an amateur(s).
Only complaint is the new front sway bar mounts
Awesome lift kit. I put this on myself in my garage and it took about a full day. This is the perfect lift height and I also installed the geometry correction kit. Great instructions and I followed them to a tee. High quality!! 2016 jeep wrangler Rubicon
I’ve had this kit on my jeep for almost 2 years now and I couldn’t be happier with the performance. This is a quality lift kit that is well worth the money. The ride quality is incredible, better than stock in my opinion. The ride is just a bit more stiff but the jeep feels more planted and compliant and it soaks up bumps much better than the stock suspension.
Do yourself a favor and add the AEV geometry correction brackets to this kit when you install it. The jeep doesn’t wander, no wobble, steers perfect, and nose diving during hard braking is almost non existent.
I’m running 285/75/17 KO2’s. No wheel spacers and no rubbing. Also fits on the stock spare tire carrier (just barely). That tire size seems to be right at the limit if you don’t want to add wheel spacers or a new spare tire carrier just yet.
If you daily drive your jeep and want to add a moderate lift without sacrificing ride quality and handling, this is the kit for you.
