Reviews for Rampage Products 109435 Trail Top Soft Top with Tinted Windows in Black Diamond for 92-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ
The only cover that accurately fits the YJ. Never getting the traditional soft top again.
93 YJ
I 100% approve the Rampage frameless soft top. I put the top on my 1993 Jeep Wrangler yj Sahara it went on pretty easily. Definitely, I would wait till the recommended temperature of 70° or above. I think it looks really good, and I've already gotten a few complements on how good it looks. I will stand behind Quatrotec and Rampage products 100% until I see different. I will also be looking forward to ordering more of your products in the future. Thank you Quadrotec and Rampage.......
Support bracket was broken in shipping but quadratec was great and quickly got me the new parts. The top was really tight as I would expect a new one to be. I was able to get it on myself with some struggle in 70 degree weather except for one snap. I had to wait for it to warm up to 90 and was finally able to get it snapped. Looks great and doesn't flap any more than a regular factory style top. I haven't had the windows and doors of the because of the weather but it looks like it should go pretty easy.
So far, so good. Just put this top on my '89 yj, and it looks great! Went on more easily than the factory top, but the instructions were not great. (Btw, while replacing the windshield channel we had to drill out the holes in the frame and use molly bolts, because the metal screw holes were shot. Worked great.) Hopefully this top holds up.
I hunted everywhere for a good frameless top for my YJ and hopefully this will be perfect, Quadratec is a fantastic company that can help with anything that you need for your jeep, hopefully it will arrive soon as the summer is here in the uk.
Installation was pretty straightforward. Fits like a glove .
I was advised that the material for this top was thinner than others and that there were potential issues with zippers or snaps. I found the fit and finish to be as described. The top was easy to install and is snug/watertight. It is much quieter than the framed top at speed. Since it is offered only in black, I was concerned that I would cook under the Virginia sun but not so. The velcro additions are a nice touch and stowage is a thoughtful feature. I enjoy the relatively rapid convertibility. Field of view is good and the tuckrails hold on tight- with the exception of the inside of the rear windo borders. I think the overall value is there. The profile this top offers is very visually appealing (to me) and leads me to believe that my aerodynamic cinder block slips through the ether just a little bit easier. I recommend it for what it was designed to be- a secondary top.
Not a bad top at all. I've had mine for about 6 years. After one year the snaps that attach the top to the door surrounds broke, rampage sent me new ones without any hassle. No other problems till about year 4, the straps started to fall apart, i replaced them with some spare straps i had for deer stands. About the same time my zippers broke. About to purchase again.
I've owned this top for 2.5 years and while I love the design, the durability is not great.. I have had 5-6 snaps and 3 zippers break and several tears in the actual material. Customer service has been good, but even still, I will likely be replacing this top after 3-4 years of use.
After I've had this top on my 91 YJ for a year, I'm a little less than satisfied. It went on great, and looked great! First issue was the supports that are supposed to keep rain from collecting on the top. They made so much noise when going down the road, it was hard to hear. It only took a few miles before i got rid of them. Second, the first time i took off the top portion, two snaps broke. When i took it off in the fall to put it into storage for the winter, another snap broke. This spring, on a very sunny and nice day, i took it off and a fourth snap broke! I also noticed the stitching comming apart on the rear window. The door pillars/frames never would stay in place or seal very well on the rubber grommet on the rail. Lastly, the velcro for the inside netting came off the first time I gave it a tug. Overall, I love the top in general, but the quality is lacking. Especially those damn snaps!
