Reviews for Boom Mat Hardtop Sound Deadening Headliner for 11-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
After one year since installation this hard top insulation has held up during the heat and humidity of summer 2017 and provided a cozy cabin during the cold of winter 2017-2018. I chose this brand of insulation because I preferred the white color option which offers the maximum illumination for the interior of Jeep. I haven't measured the decibels levels before and after the installation but it does seem quieter inside. The hardest part of the installation is turning the hard top upside down and then right side up so while 2 pairs of hands are minimum, 3 - 4 people would be ideal for 4 door JK.
Always satisfied with the quality of this product. Highly recommended. I had MOPAR brand pads on my JKU and the center and rear started to loose adhesion. They had not been more than three-four months on my Jeep. Have used Boom Mats on two other Jeep installs without an issue and expect a long worry-free service life from this purchase.
I has installed a light bar on the roof that increased interior wind noise at highway speed.
The boom mat does exactly what is says. The interior noise level is better than when it came from the factory. It was very easy to install. I am 100% pleased
Good deal
Because of what it is supposed to do
The end result is the Boom Mat Headliner is worth the effort but I've dropped a star to a four star product for a couple of reasons. It looks good and it functions better than my expectations.
It took me awhile to justify the cost considering this is essentially just a few large pieces of medium density foam cut to the right dimensions. I've gotten over the price because the end result did exactly what I wanted, control heat/cold radiating into the Jeep. As a bonus I was pleasantly surprised this also significantly reduced road noise! I wasn't expecting that but I really like it. Phone use and the stereo can be used at lower volumes at highway speed now, very nice!
OK here are the problems:
1) First off the packaging is NON-EXISTENT so the foam pieces in the box move around and bang into each other during shipping. A number of the small filler strips had the protective paper partially removed and a number of edges were peeled up on the larger headliner parts. This manufacturer really should IMPROVE THE PACKAGING so the backing paper doesn't come off in shipping. (The first kit I bought from from a different vendor was so beat up I returned it, then reordered a couple months later when I was brave again from Quadratec who did a better job on the shipping or I was just luckier with that shipping.)
2) The large pieces are bent in half to fit in the shipping box, this leaves creases in the surface down the center of the headliners. (See photos. Doesn't affect performance of the headliner but cosmetically it looks like a defect.)
3) They do not supply enough of the foam filler strips for the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-Door JK application. I ended up cutting my own fillers out of bubble wrap and double sided tape for 3 or 4 of the recessed ridges in my roof top.
Overall I am satisfied with the product so it earns 4 stars from me. It could be a 5 star product if the manufacturer packaged it better, provided better instructions, and supplied the needed amount of the foam filler strips used to install the panels.
Good looking product, little small. Little in weight, straight forward install.
Good soundproofing, fits well on the ceiling, well designed.
