Reviews for Rugged Ridge Quick Release Mirror Kit for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ & JK
I got this for a TJ. Which is 18 years old. So one of the bolts it reuses did NOT want to come out. I broke off a T40, multiple drill bits, a screw extractor, and then had to go to the store to buy some grinding bits for the Dremel tool to grind it out. I also cut in a slot for a flat-head screwdriver, which, after a lot of grinding, finally removed it. The other 3 came out no problem. So... my suggestion is try to take out the bolts before ordering it to see if it is going to be a half-hour project or a multi-day project. Note on the TJ it is the lower bolts, not the ones closest to the windshield. Good luck!
Easy to install, great fit. One mirror turns in toward the vehicle while going freeway speeds but it only mildly annoying.
Only giving 2 stars because yes these are inexpensive mirrors and they will make your Jeep look legal but do not expect to be able to see much with them. I bought this for a 2003 TJ and had couple issues with this mirror kit. The bolts included for installation are supposed to be 5/16 but the ones that came with the kit I bought were bigger and would not work. I had to go buy 5/16 bolts from the hardware store, not a huge deal but this should have been caught by quality control. The other problem is neither of the mirrors are actually designed for the passenger side of the vehicle. A passenger side mirror is supposed to be convex to give a wider field of view to better cover blinds spots.
