Reviews for Thule 963PRO 963 Spare Me Spare Tire Bike Rack
Haver owned one, But looks well made.
Made for Jeep
I've been using one of these on my 2011 JK for the better part of a decade and have no complaints. It's a snap to put it on in the spring and to remove it in the fall.
.
I can easily transport two adult-size bikes on it. Lately, I've started using it to transport my 48lb Specialized Turbo Como e-bike without an issue (aside from having to lift a 48lb e-bike onto it). It's a solid, well made rack.
.
The lock cable is adequate to dissuade someone looking to quickly lift a bike off a rack, but I wouldn't rely on it to protect an expensive bike for any length of time (a small set of bolt cutters would go right through it). If I've got my e-bike on it, I use a heavy duty Abus chain and lock to secure ithe bike and rack to the tire itself.
.
I noticed a bit of surface rust starting to appear after five or six seasons, but it was easily remedied by spot sanding, priming, and painting where needed.
.
I'm sure the rack will eventually need to be replaced. I will definitely purchase another Spare Me carrier when that time comes.
Quality bike rack. I’ve had it for several years now. Still works.
Very well built and works as intended. I recommend it.
Fits on my 35" KM2, also know a guy that runs it on a 35" AT-KO2. Comes with 2 different length square tub pieces and two lengths of extenders to fit most vehicles, even some larger then stock tires. Love mine works great.
A great tool that keeps your trailer hitch available for other uses. In addition, very practical to keep on your Jeep year-round and easy to use for bicycle transport.
Easy to use but prone to rust after several years
This does not work with the JL as the backup camera protrudes in to center. Do not buy if you have a JL. Works great on my JK
