This is a good unit and works as designed. The installation hardware is funky. After careful review and I inadvertently pushed one of the large rubber fasteners all the way through and into the tailgate itself never to be heard from again. It'll work without it but the hardware could have been designed better, hence the four stars. I also wish it came black, so I painted it. All in all very happy not to fight the tailgate closing on me!

Gets the job done - that's for sure. Inexpensive, easy-to-use solution & an improvement for me over keeping a 2x4 handy. Be careful after you drill holes into your tailgate - one of the rubber grommits fell into the inside of the metal frame, lost forever. The other three are holding tight but I will probably glue or find some other solution to only having 3/4.

The instructions were lacking - or perhaps the warnings... Make sure you are careful when drilling into the thin sheet metal - or it will look like you took a can opener to it!
