Reviews for Bestop 55002-01 Factory Style Bow Assemblies for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Coming from having the worst hardware when I got my TJ, this is a major upgrade. The quality is very good, and everything fit perfect. I can see how this would be difficult to put together if you do not have a soft top set up already, but if you go slow and take your time, the result is fantastic. There's a reason why Bestop is the best.
I just purchased this kit so I haven't had it on long but the instructions were not clear cut. This will require some thought behind it if this is your first one. The parts seem to be of good quality but the door surrounds gave us the most trouble. Took some bending for them to fit correctly so and listening to everyone says the pin broke, I can see that happening. This was the "best" frame besides OEM so I decided to purchase but so we will see in a couple months how it holds up.
Comes with everything you need and all the parts seemed to be good quality. Instructions were good but could be better. I would give it 5 stars but I think its too expensive
Just so people know, the top hardware shown in this listing is the sunrider version (which is no longer made - Bestop part number #55002). The actual part number 5500201 being shipped is the OEM, original style (non-sunrider). Pictures and instructions for this listing are currently incorrect for the actual model being shipped....
Like Dakota and James, after about 6 months, my drivers side door surround quick release pin broke. It's a part that should be available as a replacement, but so far it seems I need to buy an entire new door surround just for the quick release pin. Other than a part that seems to fail due to either faulty design or poor materials, the fit of the frame is great and nothing else has been a problem. I like it, just frustrated with the current problem.
Had the same thing happen as Dakota T. except it was the passenger side that fell off. With out the pins on both sides it will put stress unevenly on the front window seal. Which will cause it to leak as well as snap the part that goes into bar. This will make a great bow assembly as long as the first thing you do is take the pins out of the door surround bracket and put some thread locker on them and reassemble. as it stands now i am going to have to order a front window seal, and a passenger surround.
Top hardware worked great for around 8 months until the drivers side door surround pin fell off while driving around with no stress on it. Good hardware until it breaks.
