Reviews for Bestop 56820-35 Trektop NX Soft Top for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
Great top, easy to install and remove it last for 4 years and I need to replace the top.
2002 TJ. Eager to put this on- about 70 degrees out. As previous reviews stated- this is tight!! It really needs to be warm out and I was fighting a setting sun and slight drop in temp. Video is best to see what needs to be done but they didn't struggle like I had to. Paper instructions were ok. Look is awesome. Wind noise is slightly more than my original soft top. Agree with the review on the Bestop advertising on this.....
Changed to a frameless top for first time and really like it. The fold back top is really nice. My only draw back is you cant roll the back window up. On my previous frame top I would roll the back window up and leave it rolled up for quick access to store the soft doors. With the frameless I either partially open to store them and leave hanging or remove. I don't have a hard top so should be interesting in the winter.
Really like to top
Bestop definitely did there homework on this product, perfect fit for my 02’ TJ. Very please, I will admit was skeptical about this product.
I'll revisit this review after having it a while but just installed over the past weekend and want to share my first experience. Top looks good, materials are of seemingly high quality for the price paid. Vinyl windows came with a couple stretch marks but nothing terrible. Installation is pretty easy (watch the video), hardest thing for me was taking my hard top off and getting it stored in a good spot. I had no factory components for a soft top (I have an 04 TJ that had a factory hard top and full front doors) but everything needed was included including all hardware. My only warning is that it seems very doubtful everything will fit as designed after the initial install, for the life of me I can't get the rear window bar in the brackets. Everything is zipped and clipped but I can't get that in place. Outside air temp was mid to upper 70's so I don't think that was the issue, it is just TIGHT. That is my only hesitation and I'm hoping after a week or two of temps in the 80's it will loosen just enough to get it to fit properly.
Top came packaged great. Went on easy. You have to work a little to install it. Had a problem with one of the Door surround bolt holes lining up, but was able to get it in. Make sure you leave it in the sun to warm up will make it a lot easier to install. Watch a couple of the Videos on You Tube. Will help out a lot. Looks Great on and is very quiet.
First soft top for me, GREAT top. It's a bit cheaper because its frameless but they didn't cheap out anywhere- the door surrounds are a very sturdy nylon and the fabrics + windows are very well made. You won't need to stick to the instructions perfectly- do what they did in the video and it'll be an easier install. You also might want to lube the J-slide for the back window a little bit, this is the only thing I needed another person to help with. The sunrider feature is really nice.
No leaks so far, no noise, no rattling or flapping parts... both city and highway driving. Install took a while but I did it on a 40* day.
The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the hooks for the rear of the tub (internal, they are strapped to the rear of the 'roof' of the top) are plastic. Good plastic, but at the end of the day it still gets brittle when it gets cold. Other than that great top, I'm glad I got what I got and would do it again.
Very tight fit, which makes it a bit of a struggle to get on, but the tight fit is what you want. Overall, this is a great product!
Loving this top so far. Sometimes it's a pain to get the side windows lined up with the back, but it's still relatively new. Love the fastback look
