Reviews for Bestop 54723-35 Supertop NX Soft Top with Tinted Windows for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
Other than a little leakage in the back, it fits great! Easy to put together and install. Though it stays down most of the time, it's easy to put back up in a hurry. Tight enough but not too tight. Very pleased with this purchase!
2008 Jeep Wrangler X - I have to say I'm quite impressed with it. It's way better than the original as you don't have to to snap the sides in when you're putting the top back on. The rear window seals like a glove. And it comes with front and rear bows for extra support. Watch this YouTube video for easy instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A867SmzXtPc
Shipping was quick, the product is excellent except for the screws. Cheap junk, heads on half of them stripped out. Couldn’t figure out why the directions showed “vice grips” as a needed tool. Figured it out as soon as the first screwhead stripped!! Directions get a “B” grade from me. I’ve seen much worse but illustrations are not the best. Overall I’m happy with the purchase. If you’re not mechanical, pay someone to install.
Installed this on my daughter's 2009 JKU to replace the original factory top which had worn out. Well packaged, easy to follow directions. Only complaint is the holes to attach the cloth to the bows is only punched in the first layer which makes it more difficult to get the screws lined up. Installed solo in about 3 hours.
Installed this on my '17 Rubicon. Instructions said 3-4hr installation time, took me about that long but could've been faster if instructions were more detailed. No leaks so far and was very happily surprised how much cooler the interior is after setting in the hot sun all day, much cooler than with the hard top on. Like this product but needs better detailed instructions to get 5 stars!!
I bought myself the Super Top NX for Christmas last year. I just got around to installing it now that it’s warm. I am very impressed with the product—it functions and looks great—except for the obnoxious Bestop logo printed onto the rear panel above the window. I don’t mind small tags or plaques (I removed the latter) but the printed logo cannot be removed without damaging the fabric. When I bought the product the pictures in NO WAY showed this logo—I would have bought the MOPAR version instead. While there is nothing I can do now I thought I would share this with prospective buyers. It’s a great product but I feel deceived. I would otherwise give a 5 star review.
Arrived with about a 1inch piece of the header plastic broken off floating in the box. Installed anyways with hope it won't be an issue. Just a shame because I paid alot of money for. Something and it arrives broken. Install went well, much easier since the header was already put together. All was well until rear driver window installation. Zippers didn't seem to be in the right spot. It was impossible to get the front side to wrap around that door frame and be able to zip it. I have had soft top before and have never struggled so much. I finally got it after about an hour of adjusting. I really think that window as deformed and not seen straight. We shall see. It was an easy install other than that. Haven't hit the highway yet but the top seems nice and tight. I'll review again after a rain storm and once I hit the highway. I do recommend this top even with the problems I encountered. All tops have their issues and these weren't as bad as I've experienced in the past with other tops.
Driving down the highway the sides lift up not sure if it's because of the heat stretching the fabric.
We hate this top. It was hard to install, even with one of the people working on it very experienced with installing soft tops as a lifetime Jeep owner. We have tried to find videos on how to use and so far it seems like the top just sort of rests on top of the cargo area? Wobbly and not stable for highway driving. Hard to put back up also and has been noisy and whips around since our first time putting it back up. Considering this top was pricey and so highly reviewed, has been overall disappointing.
Instead of writing a review I wanted to share the email I'm sending to Bestop about this product. What an awful experience with this product/company. If you buy this top, make sure you're a person that has A LOT of patience and understanding....
Hi there. I recently purchased a SuperTop NX Soft Top model 54723-35 and what an awful experience I had with my first Bestop purchase. Additionally I'll mention I purchased the incredibly overpriced 42806-01 HOSS Hard Top Cart which is $250 and is at most $10 in metal piping. I did it anyway because I thought it would be good for taking off the hard top and storing it so I forced myself to pay the outrageous price.
My first problem was with the Hard Top cart. The size adjusting buckle is made of the cheapest plastic known to man and actually bent when I went to tighten it after getting it on my hard top. Unbelievable. You couldn't provide a metal buckle with this insanely overpriced product?
Next, the instructions for installing the soft top are terrible. This seems to be something I read about many, many times on threads while researching this top. I am generally a person that will ignore such things and write those opinions off to lazy people that think everything is easy which I am not. I was wrong. The instruction verbiage and awful dated looking drawings were absolutely terrible. Why can't you have REAL photos in your manual for a $1300 piece of equipment? I think that's a very small ask for something as complicated as installing this soft top. I would say it could be half as complicated and time consuming if there were proper instructions provided.
Next, I get to the sidebow installation part of the process. Left side goes in great then I get to the right side bow which had NO PREDRILLED HOLES. NONE. So, I had to take out the left pole that I just installed and start measuring because it has to be somewhat precise to be even on both sides and start drilling my own holes and make sure they align properly to the rest of the top parts that connect to the poles.
Next, I get to the Stay Pad part of the installation. Starting hand screwing in the first one and pop, screw just breaks. Not much force required but screw is so cheap that is just snapped off in the hole. I spent another 30 minutes trying to drill out the half of the screw that is broken off in the hole and never could. I was so infuriated by that point I just left it be.
Next, I get to the part of the install that requires the tiny bushings that connect Bow to Header. They are incredibly tiny and I dropped one. I said to myself well, I'm sure for something this expensive they included some additional parts that cost fractions of fractions of a penny to provide to the customer. Nope. Nothing extra. Not one piece of extra hardware. I get extra hardware provided with almost everything including cheap knockoff garbage from Amazon that comes from China that takes 4 weeks to be delivered. $1300 soft top? Nope, not one extra piece of hardware. So now I'm missing a bushing in my install.
I had my friend (a Wrangler owner and enthusiast as well) help me install this and 5 hours later (should have been 2), we were finished and agreed this is the worst piece of equipment that either of us have had to assemble or work with.
So that's my feedback for my first 2 Bestop purchases. I don't know if anyone will even read this or care but I wanted to share my feedback because if no one tells you this stuff, you don't know how to fix it.
