Reviews for Teraflex 2.5in Lift Kit for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door
Good kit for 35x12.50s
I researched lift kits for months before I decided on the Teraflex kit for my 2018 JK Rubicon 2-Dr. The beefy rear track bar bracket was the main reason I went with them. I knew from lifting an XJ a few years back that I was not going to do this in an afternoon. I set aside the entire weekend and I used all of it... probably 18 hours or so total. Everything turned out exactly the way I wanted it to turn out. I think the kit was awesome, it's extremely high quality, and went together very well. Getting the old front shocks out and the new Bilsteins I bought in, was the hardest part of the whole project. Everything else was pretty much by-the-book. The stance is just right, and there is enough room to clear the 33 x 12.50s I'm putting on with full usage on the trail. I went ahead and got the Monster Track Bar too. It's the finishing touch. Great kit, and very happy.
I’m very happy with this lift kit. I was able to install this kit in about 4 hours. I’m running 35” tires with plenty of room. I’m most impressed that my Jeep actually rides better now than it did on the stock suspension. Really good lift for the price.
This lift was put on by my boyfriend who’s a professional mechanic. He couldn’t believe how perfect everything fit and how there was no modifications needed like most parts you buy. It took him about 3 1/2 hrs to install but he also knew what he was doing and didn’t have to go by the book if you will. The ride is sweet and so is the look. Can’t wait for my wheels and tires to arrive!!
Have this installed on a 2016 2 door. everything went together very nicely and the ride (in my opinion) is better than stock. it no longer leans in corners and the front end does not jump way up under hard acceleration. Off road is where this shines however. There is more articulation than the spacer lift that it replaced and the increased spring rate and shock valving make it just work better off road. very happy with thee purchase. BTW, I also purchased Tera's forged front track bar and would recommend that for adjusting the front axle back to center.
Kit was as advertised and instructions were perfectly illustrated. However, I recommend the YouTube Havoc Off Road (Teraflex 2.5 inch lift kit) install video which provides nearly perfect step by step instructions. Lastly, use the Advance Auto Specialty Tool program to get a coil spring compressor at no charge. You'll need it for that last front end lift spring! Got the best price at Quadratec - Thanks
Solid kit with easy to follow instructions. And if you're having trouble following the written instructions, then the Teraflex install video on Youtube can give you a great visual. For me, the driver side front spring was tough to put on, but I was able to get it on without using a spring compressor. Put the lift on in my garage by myself, so it took a little longer than the 6-8 hour install time. The lift looks and handles great! Highly recommended!
Great simple spring lift kit. When it first arrived I found the boxed instructions somewhat less than understandable. I went to Teraflex.com and watched the video for the product that I purchased and had a better understanding of the install.
If you are doing this in you garage without a lift I highly recommend you purchase a set of jack stands with a height of 24". It's much easier to put the jack stands at the rear or front of the vehicle when trying to get enough height to drop the axles low enough to remove the springs.
The only spring you'll have trouble with after installing the bump stop extensions will be the passenger side front. It will go in from the front not the rear but you have to put a bottle jack between the axle and the frame on that side in order to get the axle low enough to accept the taller springs. I tried my spring compressor but it was too bulky and made the problem worse. Once you have the top of the spring on the bump stop just start turning the spring and it will eventually clear the stop and go right in.
I did mine over two days and worked about 6 hours each day. I took the extra time to go over everything while I had easy access.
My steering wheel stayed straight and a quick check of the alignment showed that it was still in. I will still take it in and have it checked.
The overall ride is still good. It's firmer but not stiff and much more stable feeling than the stock springs. I'm running Goodrich/Michelin K02 34x10.5x17 on XD rims with a 4.53 inch back set at 35 lbs and they are certainly harder riding than the stock street tires that were on it but its not a Toyo bone jar by any means.
I'm giving the kit 5 stars discounting the passenger front spring install issues. If you can't figure out how to make that work then you probably should have a shop do your work for you.
Solid kit, improved ride over stock. Not stiff
My first major install recommend having someone help you it will cut down on the time. If you watch the install videos remember they are showing installing it with bolts that have no rust. Instructions were good but not great.
