Reviews for Tuffy 240-01 Security Deck Enclosure for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited
Final product is great! Install for a guy not so mechanically inclined, with lunch and breaks, took probably 7 hours. Part of that was a huge weld from the jeep factory or a wheel well repair later on, that would not let the side sit down on the floor. I ended up having to grind the bottom corner off the box to get it to fit the bolt holes. I had already drilled out the bolt holes, and tried to use my jack to push the sides apart, before I found the weld. The instructions could use some close-ups, and better drawings or pictures. A video for each different install would have helped. There are vids for later models, but not my 2004.I am happy with the end result.
I've been broken into once, that's all it takes to want security!
This is exactly what I needed. My Jeep was broken into and items were stolen. This prevents a repeat (at least of the theft). There is plenty of room under the deck and the rear gate locks it up without any extra effort.
Great looking product. I had just installed the bedtred so I did a custom install without using all the factory bolts. The unit fits well and looks secure.
One of the best investments I have made for my jeep. Easy to install and very stable. Actually is bettter quality and secures better than I thought when I ordered it
I installed this Tuffy Security Deck in my 2005 TJ, and it is great! The unit fits as advertised, and installed without issue. Note that some of the pictures in the instructions are a bit grainy and hard to make out, but if you study things for a bit, it becomes clear how things go together. There is a ton of room inside the lockable "trunk" area, and we can even secure our top door halves, zip-out quarter windows, and zip-out rear window in there when going top-down, and still have room for a couple duffles and miscellaneous gear. Plus, you still have the top deck where you can strap down additional gear. I also ordered two of the 40mm ammo cans from Quadratec, and bolted them down to the trays on the sides of the enclosure (I store my recovery gear...straps, snatch block, shackles, etc...in one of them). I like this security deck, over others, because the lockable "lid" is your tailgate, which means no additional keys and you only have to open one lid to get in to it. The unit is tough, looks good, and I would definitely recommend this product.
Te metal on this seems pretty thin, hopefully it hold up on the Rubicon.
I bought this box because I could keep my subwoofer and amp I bought here in the box - it sits high with lots of underneath space.
My plan is to cut open spaces in the front panel so the music flows out and there is access for the front seat. Not worried about theft from the front.
I guess I expected a little more qualtiy for the money with this one. My 2000 Wrangler is carpet free so I had to get creative with making her snug. It would have been nice if the lid would stay open when up. The hardest part was removing 20 year old bolts.
