Reviews for Smittybilt G.E.A.R. Tailgate Cover for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I've now had one of these installed for about 7 years. I love it!
I use the Molle point to attach most items I need easy access to, things like Jumper Cables, tire tools, gloves , etc.
It was pretty easy to install, and I's recommend it to everyone, even if you're not a "hard core" Jeeper.
looks amazing and I wanted to wait to review until I went off-roading with the bags, to see how well the snaps would hold up. There's a little bit of sagging but it was expected when the bags are filled like mine are. I love the extra straps that come with the bags so I can easily carry the bags if necessary.
Great extension of storage for wasted space on the trunk door. Very customizable as well. I get compliments on it all the time!
nice storage
Great addition and fits my storage needs...
Happy with it
Great product! Highly recommended.
Cleanup in side keeps tool easy at hand
Very easy install . Used a sharp drill bit took my time has no issues. Looks good have plenty of room for storage. Also enough room for first aid pouch .
Pretty straightforward installation. The biggest challenge is re-routing the wires and battery cables. If you use group 34 batteries, be prepared to chock the bottom of the batteries so they don’t slide around during rough cornering. (I used one inch box-channel aluminum, epoxied to the bottom of the battery tray.) The top “Hold-down” bar has some clearance issues with the battery terminals. Make sure the hold-down bar is clear of positive terminal(s), and tight on the top of the battery. (I plan to cut out the hold-down bar around the positive terminals.) Good instructions, follow them! Cut and Pad the firewall hold-in nuts, (I used my Dremel tool. Use the plastic buttons that are included to cover the nuts, silicone-seal to top the buttons, and sheet rubber between the buttons and battery: you really don’t want a hole in your new battery.) Make sure the TIPM connectors are fully seated when re-installing the TIPM.
