Reviews for Smittybilt Front G.E.A.R. Seat Cover for 76-18 Jeep CJ, Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK, TJ Unlimited & Wrangler Unlimited JK
I would have given a 5 star, except there was a fit problem with my 2001 Wrangler Saraha. Customer Service went out of the way to help resolve the issue.
Fits well and is of good quality. A bit high priced for what you get but I do like it. Lots of versatility when it comes to packing gear and the straps are handy to hang gear off of as well.
All good quality except the plastic elastic cord hooks that run under the seat. Installation on my TJ required problem solving due to poor instructions. Routing the cords to avoid parts that move is an issue.
So is an attachment point for the hooks.
I used a car key ring as a central attachment point under the seat for all hooks.
One hook seperated into it's two parts when tensioned. One part houses the triple knot at the cord end and has two holes in its wall.
The other part has the hook. On its base are two male clips that snap in to the holes.
The parts seperated because the cord knot end was not trimmed properly. The clips were blocked by the cord from seating the holes properly.
I trimmed the excess cord and snapped it together..Otherwise it is a good design and of good quality. Useful storage that integrates with my other M.O.L.L.E. gear.
These are a tight fit for the JL and will replace them when something that fits becomes available
Low value for your money. 89 YJ with original seats and the elastic straps broke within a day. Very cool idea, poor execution.
First off, no issue with Quadratec. But Smittybilt is putting out a bad product. Deceptivly listed as "will fit every seat CJ-JK". What you're buying is an extremely limited cover that only fits low-back seats, or JK seats with an adjustable headrest. Does not fit well with seat hardware. And the bunjies for the lower half, which covers about 1/2 of the seat bottom, are weak and short lived. Wanted a durable seat cover for my dog. Was disappointed. Great idea, poor execution.
Shame on Smittybilt! They design a great car seat cover and use plastic bungee cord clips to secure the seat flaps that are fragile and break apart. Even the design of the clip itself is poor, plastic and in two pieces. All the reviews about this issue are real. They can fix this problem very easily. Add a clip with buckles and wrap the cords under the seat to each other. Today I will engineer my own fix and drive on. Smittybilt should do the same!
I bought the black seat covers. Elastic to hold it under the seat broke, talked to quadratec, they directed me to smittybilt. Under a year old and they would do nothing. Severely faded in under a year. Again smittybilt did nothing for me. Supposed to have a year warranty. All smittybilt did was argue with me.
do not like the way it install, could have been better designed
Actual product image says it all. Total garbage product. Does not fit my 2012 JK at all. The cords that are supposed to attach it to the bottom of the seat are not long enough and one already snapped.
