Reviews for Bilstein 24-141727 Front Heavy Duty Gas Shock for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK & Wrangler Unlimited JK with 0" Lift
Good choice for small budgets (...like mine).
With these units, you get what you pay for. These far surpass the inexpensive KYB Excel-G's I had. The ride is more compliant on rough terrain resulting in better control and a more enjoyable ride.
A little hard to get the small wrench on the shock rod while tightening the nut.
Just ordered. Have not received, so I cannot comment
Love how these made the JK fell on highway.

A firmer ride and more stable feeling. I also installed the Bilstein steering stabilizer. Many thanks to previous posters for their helpful reviews. I installed these at home, easy install and just need to jack up each corner as you work. A few hours before removing the old shocks I shot the nuts/bolts with a penetrating grease and feel this was a good idea. I'd heard from others that it was handy to have geared wrenches (15-18mm) and that certainly does make it easier to work on the upper nut. Both driver and passenger side were accessible for me without needing to access from above. On the passenger side I did need to cut off a little of the plastic trim so that I could get the wrench on the upper nut, that has been mentioned by others and it is indeed necessary otherwise you'll have to go the route of accessing from above with a socket. The only drawback to using a wrench from the side instead of a socket from above is the inability to get the proper torque on the nut. It's possible from the side but certainly not as accurate as using a socket. Good info from Matthew's review regarding how to orient the bushings and plates. I used an extra jack and a 2X4 to compress and somewhat flatten the new bushings (against the underside of my frame) to make the install easier as you are left with very little thread showing on the upper bolt when you put it all together if you don't. Good luck to all, see you on the trails!
These are really great shocks off road and on. Highly recommended.
WOW! What a difference in the ride
I run BF Goodrich 33/70R 17 tires on my 2014 wrangler4 door .
It under the old OEM shocks bounced a lot,
Not now!
Big deference
I installed these heavy duty shocks on the front and back of my 16 Wrangler Sport JK (2 door) and very happy how much my highway ride stability improved. I also installed the Bilstein steering dampener. The two door is jittery by nature and these shocks are well worth the modest price.
Noticeably better ride, amazing at keeping tires in contact with the pavement under the roughest conditions
