Reviews for HyLine OffRoad Louvered Hood Panel for 97-02 Jeep Wrangler TJ with Dual Washer Nozzle
Came with a fool proof metal template and straight forward instructions . Took about 2.5 hours. With breaks .
Have a decent drill and a couple strong sawzall blades or a cut off wheel . And maybe a friend to help on and off the hood
Does not show the faster heads
I like the design. It'll really bad to the look of my jeep
This thing has some really good instructions. It would have been easy to put on if my OMIX hood would have not taken a blocking a shot for the Ukraine army against Russian invaders.
I've seen some reviews for hood louver systems that make me really question how those folks put pants on and breathe at the same time. This HyLine panel system is probably one of the easiest things I've done to my '97 TJ and combined it with a Raptor Line truck bed liner on the hood. The whole process took me 7 hours with plenty of air conditioner breaks. The template provided makes it absolutely fool proof. I strongly suggest you have everything laid out the night before. Find your area you will be cutting in, charge up drill batteries (corded drills work best for this), and make sure you have a FEW 1/16" bits as well as a 1/4". The 1/16" will be for pilot holes for the 1/4" and if you want to drill more than 1 of 32 holes per minute, then you need a few as they will heat up and snap--its normal. Also invest in a 1" hole saw. You'll need it to knock the corners out before you start cutting. Once you start cutting I recommend a regular jigsaw with a metal cutting blade. Its way faster and easier to control than a dremel or reciprocating saw. Wear safety glasses even if you're cool like me because these tiny metal shards are attracted mostly to your eyeballs as that's the only place they'll actually land on you. Once you're done, a circular sander with some 120 grit works just fine to knock the burrs off the edges. This is really fool proof and I suggest reading the TWO PAGE instructions prior to starting and/or writing some review that makes you look like you drive in your car alone with a mask on.
It is a bit unnerving to be cutting your hood up, but the template they give you is very good and shows where every hole goes. the product is well made and sturdy, and I think the finished look is very nice. I got this in the hopes it will help keep engine a bit cooler. Can't say if it does or not since we just had a cool front blow in, but if it doesn't I will update and let it be known. If looking to fix up your jeep I would defiantly recommend. just make sure someone's around to help pull and reinstall the hood.
