I have an 02 and 04 TJ. The 02 has four of these bumpers on the tailgate and all is fine, but the 04 only has two at the top of the tailgate. As a result, the lower half of the spare tire rides too close to the body and bumps up against the bumper mounted on the body. This makes it difficult to close the tailgate completely. Is this a normal difference between the 02 and 04 TJs?
1.85 sized model is called for on 03-06 models and not 97-02. 55013350 1.62" sizing is used 1998-2006 in Mopar parts data. These models are expecting the factory size spare is being used. Aftermarket tailgate bump stops would be best if your sizing is not factory on your stock carrier. Thanks for your inquiry.

how do you determine if you need the 1.6 or 1.8 inch bumper for a 2001 Jeep TJ
For the most accurate results, once your chosen tire is on the rear carrier, take a measurement between the tailgate and inner sidewall of the tire.

what is the difference between the 1.62 and 1.85 rubber bumper, do they go in different spots on the back?
No they were just used for different sized factory tires

Where can I get the bolt/screw to set this?
The screws if you would like to try to find them locally are M4.8x1.59x11. We can still get them from Jeep if you would like. Please contact my sales department (1-800-745-5337) and ask to order part #154236. They are $1.99/each
