Reviews for OMIX 18031.05 Vinyl Grip Steering Wheel for 76-95 Jeep CJ & Wrangler YJ
It is a direct fit and is similar in appearance to the OEM steering wheel.
Thanks
Great wheel! Used my old horn button with it (The one with the Jeep logo) and I’d worked beautifully. Can definitely tell the spokes were laser-cut, as the meta edges felt sharp to the touch straight out of the box. Not as comfortable as the leather wheel, however that doesn’t mean it’s uncomfortable. Great purchase in my book.
Nice wheel
Works great
I love this steering wheel. Great fit with my 81 CJ7. Also fits well with the separate purchase of button that covers center. People said it can pop off but mine is awesome. Might only be pleathure (not sure) wrapped but looks and feels close to leather at least (again, if it isn’t) and has nice big stitching.
Excellent .....fits perfect looks like oem!!
Nice wheel, edges of the metal spokes are really sharp though. Need to take the edge of with a file or risk a nasty cut.
The flex plate that keeps the horn button in place is flat instead of convex. If you've ever fought with a CJ horn assembly you know exactly what I'm talking about.
The wheel itself feels like it's well built and of good quality. The internal bore is an interference fit on a taper on the steering shaft. However the internal bore of the new wheel is very slightly larger than OEM and has less taper. The result is when the wheel is tightened on my 91 YJ, the wheel goes much farther inboard. The trim ring on the back of the wheel then makes contact with the column plastic preventing the wheel from turning. There isn't a way that I can tell to correct this other than taking a grinder to the ring and taking off a 1/4 inch so it'll clear. I don't know if the wheel being so much deeper will affect the horn button. Currently I'm sitting with no wheel, and a replacement that won't work. Once again held against paying for return shipping if I want to send it back, really wish they'd change this policy.
