Reviews for Warrior Products Outer Cowl Covers for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Took a little effort to get them to fit, but well worth it. They look great!
Heavy duty. I vent with the non diamond plated 12 gauge steel. Had to bend about 2 additional inches but was close enough a good table vice worked well. I didn’t use the supplied pop rivets. I used 1/4-20 stainless button heads and nutserts. Love it. I did submit photo.
I had to bend mine pretty good to make them hug the body the way I thought they should. Even then they left a little gap where the biggest radius was. I attached them with black RTV and then made a nice bead around the edges. Looks good, just maybe not as easy to install as one might think.
Warrior outer cowls not fitted yet.but doing a few dry runs and checking where the four corner holes are located,i will probably use screws as opposed to rivets.will probably also drill 2 more holes, making a total of three holes on left side and three on the right.I don't see a problem fitting them.Mine are not the diamond plastic finish, but the metal covers which I intend to paint. So should look good
The product itself is sturdy and the black finish was done well. They rivot on to the vehicle and are fairly easy to attach. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is the fit. When manufactured Warrior Products is not using the proper contour to the Jeep. In their instructions they state you may have to bend the covers to compensate from shipping or other slight variances. Well I can say fairly certainly they are simply made to the incorrect contour slightly. The contour is off 1/4"-3/8" in an eight inch length roughly. This is a lot. This means you have to bend the 1/8" steel to a smaller radius to fit the more angled cowl. They state in the instructions to lay the item on some cardboard and bend it. Yeah that ain't happening. Tried it. Nice and sturdy they are! I had to use a vice that was bolted to a table to hold one side and then using my body weight try to bend it. Was a trial and error thing till I got it bent closer. I am mad at myself as first one I slightly over bent and could not get it to lay exactly right. The 2nd one I got better and it fits perfectly now. Where I bent them you can see my bend marks in the high gloss finish as well a bit. These items are strong and again very sturdy I just wish they would fix their template or whatever so they ship to fit the proper contour - just not made quite right. I used RTV to try and hide the gaps that are visible along the front edge.
These took a lot of massaging to get to the right shape. That means bending, but they are strong. So that is a good and a bad thing. Once installed looks great and covers those dents from the mirrors just fine
They are cool looking but take a lot of bending to make fit the shape of the cowl. It certainly is not an easy thing to do for the average person. That being said, once they are in they look awesome
