These stainless steel hinges replace the original painted hinges which had begun to chip and even show small spots of rust so the SS replacements not only look better, they're functional as well.

Definitely not as easy as they make it sound, I had an actual clip popper with a plastic piece that slides up and down as a leverage point and it took forever to pop the windshield wipers out, definitely did not pop out as easy in the video. Taking the cowl off was a pain as well the Christmas tree snaps did not pop out easily as shown in the video, and the fact they just used a metal screwdriver without any damage to the paint just blows me away. Getting the hinges off was easy enough except one of the screws in the hood almost stripped out before the paint would break. Installing the new hinges was pretty simple except as I was hand tightening the last hood screw the 5mm Allen wrench popped out of the hole and damaged the top of the bolt. I ordered the black stainless steel hood hinge (without the coating) and it seems it’s just a black paint job on standard stainless steel, I thought it was stainless steel that was blackened somehow all the way through. Could be my stupidity thinking that, but seems like a bummer if a rock hit them and chipped them all up, but being stainless means no rust which is extremely nice. Putting the cowl back on was no easy task and took me quite a few minutes to figure out how to get the mounts for the Christmas tree snaps in place as well as the ones that snap into the back of the “firewall”. I could get one in but then the windshield hinge would block one of those, and if I tried to do those first the ones that pop in the windshield wiper mount area wouldn’t clear the hood, not as easy as they show in the install video where they literally just slide it back on with ease. Either way it turned out great and looks amazing, I didn’t paint the hood as I have an AEV heat reduction hood on preorder and will switch it out eventually anyway within a month. Overall take your time, and be extremely careful, the black hinges with the white hood really makes it pop and stand out. Absolutely can not wait until I have the new heat reduction hood installed with my newish AEV snorkel kit.

Good product

I just installed these hinges onto my white 2014 JKU and I have to say they look great! I was impressed with the quality of the black textured hinges and supplied hardware. I definitely recommend painting the underneath (bare metal with rust & corrosion) area after removing the OEM hinges. I also recommend using the RTV silicone, but take care not to put too much on. The install video on youtube is super helpful!
